Hey San, just a thought - try diluting the juice with water - half and half the first couple days, and start decreasing the amount of juice every other day or something. It may help?

On a different note, Riya had such a hard time today with constipation, poor baby was screaming while passing stool. We got some prune juice today and I diluted it with water (this is when I thought of you, San), and this evening she passed stool fine and is doing okay now. DH and I were both very worried watching her in distress. Go Prune Juice! I have also bought a packet of prunes to add it to her diet every now and then.

Hi Mangai

Yes i was referring to babies under 1 yr only, and the calcium content in this formula will be around 115 mg/ 100 ml apart from other vitamins

Hey Raj, I need some info on this...
1) I have bottle of prue juice for adults...should I give the same or gerber also has the product?
2) How did you give it to Riya? In a bottle or with spoon? I gave it to Aarya with spoon and she hated it...
4) How much did you give?
3) Did you buy dry prunes or fresh? How are you planning to give? with cereal or direct?

Please let me know
Thanks
Meeta

Meeta, I bought a bottle of sunsweet prune juice from the juice aisle, poured 2 oz in a sippy cup and added 2 -2 1/2 oz. water and gave it to her. She didn't like it but had some, I kept giving it to her every hour or so and she would have couple sips. As for prunes, I bought the same brand - sunsweet prunes and I add one piece to whatever fruit or veggie I am giving to her. I just chop the prune really tiny and mash it in the food.

I also realized that I was giving Riya too much iron in her food while we were traveling - I gave her iron fortified cereal and banana for two days that may have contributed to her constipation. I read on wholesome baby foods that in case of constipation, avoid four foods, namely, BRAT- Banana, Rice(cereal), Apple and Toast - Constipation in Baby | Infant Constipation & Baby Constipation Remedies and Advice - Constipated Baby Infant - Constipation Information from wholesomebabyfood.com.

Hey read this thread that I started http://www.indusladies.com/forums/ba...month-old.html, - lot of ladies have given tips for constipation.

Hope this helps. From what mangaii says about Miralax, I am kind of concerned, too. Can you call the doc and say that you want to try home remedy before trying out Miralax?

Raj

Hi Keertimom,
You can give egg yolk after 8 mnths and white after 1 year. What is your baby eating right now? If you tell us that it will be easier to give suggestions. For travel tips and websites for teaching both have been discussed extensively earlier.

Hi all

Am new to IL. My son is 11 months old. Am giving him Lactogen 2 at this point. Should I switch to Lact 3 or can I start milk like Aavin. Apart from this I am giving him boiled and mashed apple, dal rice, mixed veg puree and yoghurt. Would love to start some kanji for breakfast as he does not like Cerelac anymore. Can I start the readymade Kanji powders available in supremarkets. Would love to hear from you regarding diet for 11 month baby.
Rgds

Hi Priya,
Welcome to IL! What's your son's name? Our boys are very close in age. Although the American recommendation is for cow's mil after 1 year of age I dont see any harm in starting it at 11 mnths. I started at 10 mnths for my son and no problems so far. Reg kanji have a look at this kanji preparation It may help you. I prefer home-made to store-bought food and I've been giving home-made satthu maavu kanji for the past month. You can probably try other fruits as well and also regular tiffin like idli/dosa/chappathi/upma - whatever you make at home. Do ask if you have any specific doubts or need more details.

Vanathi.

Hi Vanathi

Thanks for your reply. My son's name is Pranav. I think I will try Aavin now. Should I dilute it in the beginning or just give it as it is. He still wakes up a couple of times in the night. Is it Ok to continue Lactogen 2 for these feeds. I have tried giving him water but he does not go back to sleep until he has milk.
Thanks for the kanji thread. I will go thru and see what I can prepare at home.

Priya

Priya - Dont dilute milk - its dilute enough as it is All the calorie/protein benefit of milk is lost if you dilute it. Some kids develop constipation when milk is started so try increasing fruits/keerai etc during the first few days on Aavin milk. Maybe you can try diluting the night-time milk and slowly make it water (over a period of 2-3 weeks). He may accept it then.

Vanathi.
