Can anyone suggest how to prepare ragi for 6 months old baby? My MIL is telling very tedious process to prepare for baby.
its quite simple......shes jst 6 months old.....first give her the ragi milk......jst marinate 2 tbsp of ragi in water for 10 mins....then grind it in the mixie....donot add more mater....strain it.......take the milk out...now add 1/4 cup of cows milk or packet milk and boil...add sugar....this is the regular procedure for a small baby and after 1 yr u can make porridge powder by drying ragi,cashews,channa dhal,badham and grind it with the help of local grinder available near by and store it for daily use,....
Hi vidsen Yes it is a very big process but as you are living in india and so it wont be a problem. First soak the ragi over night and grind it in mixie. Filter the juice (or milk) in a thin cloth and pour it in a big plate. leave the plate under the sun for two three days or till it is completely dry and scrub the powder from the plate and siew the flour in a thin muslin cloth. store in a air tight container. this can be add in to milk or you can make a porridge and give. the flour prepared is good for babies because this will come out in a very fine powder form. hamsa.
