Hi dear friends.
Yes saffron certainly a medicinal value for all. Especially for infants and the mother who is pregnant.
Those days old ladies used to give the milk mixed with saffron for pregnant ladies to drink and they will tell it will give us a fairly beautiful babies. Some pregnant ladies do not like to consume milk during pregnancy. So this is one way of asking them to consume milk. Actually consuming saffron with milk for pregnant ladies will help the babies to become smart from the beginning and bone strengthening too
This one i heard from our television show.
Thanks

Thanks for the nice informations from Sunkan, Satya, Padmaniyengar on safron and to the topic raiser deepshika.

Saffron derives its name from the Arabic word Zafran meaning, "be yellow". ...

Few more details on Saffron Kesar, the queen of spices, doesn’t come cheap by any standards. And no surprise, considering that it takes nearly 70,000 saffron flowers to produce a mere kilo of saffron!

Saffron is grown commercially primarily in India, Spain and Iran.

Saffron is the only spice known to contain water soluble carotene.

It is an antioxidant and anti-cancerous. It also has sedative and diaphoretic effects.

A number of people also believe that it is a potent aphrodisiac — that probably explains the kesar milk that is a part of the wedding night ritual.

It also Remove "Tridosh".

Helps to relieve pain, generate sexual excitement, cures worm's problem, improve skin colour, cures constipation, eye & head problem.

It is applied or eaten in cold.

Application of its paste on female breast increases mother milk.

It also Improves digestion

New research also shows that saffron offers plenty of unexpected health benefits, such as alleviating depression and even preventing cancer.

People who got 30 milligrams of saffron a day for 6 weeks reported the same improvement in their depression symptoms as those who received 20 milligrams of fluoxetine (a.k.a. Prozac), according to a preliminary study in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology.

“Saffron enhances the activity of (mood-boosting) neurotransmitters such as norepinephrine and dopamine,” says Shahin Akhondzadeh-Basti, a clinical neuropsychopharmocology professor at Roozbeh Psychiatric hospital Tehran, Iran, the oldest academic psychiatric hospital in the Middle East.

And in another recent study published in Cancer Detection and Prevention, researchers touted saffron’s anti-tumor and cancer-preventive benefits.

The spice is rich in antioxidants, such as crocin, a carotenoid that helps prevent the spread and growth of cancer.
