Dear aunty,

Made horsegram (kollu) podi yesterday and made kollu-podi mini idlis for my LO. She dunked them in hot hot lemon rasam and had. Waiting to try kollu podi today with rice.

Since LO is yet to recover from her cold and cough, made kandathippili rasam (conventional stove top method, as PP was used up for rice ) and capsicum paruppusili to go with it. For fever tongue, these rasams are varaprasadhams. Will try your podi dosai today with Kollu podi.

My dear Chithra,

I tried Chikki and it came out well. At first I was planning to do chikki by Caramel pori method, replacing pori for nuts. When was looking into the index for caramel pori recipe, I came accross Chikki recipe. I was so excited to see the recipe and wanted to make it ASAP. I followed your recipe to the dot and was able to break the chikkis into small squares. Your tip of roasting the nuts in the oven helped a lot. Previously I used to roast the nuts in Kadai. This tip is just excellent and saves a lot of time and effort. Many many thanks for sharing such super tasty recipe.

Today for our dinner I am planning to make Ghee idly with Madurai Hotel Idly sambar. I already prepared the sambar in the morning, the sambar is very mild, flavourful and tasty. I am sure this sambar will be a nice accompaniment for all tiffins. As the weather is quite warm and sunny today, I am planning to make grape lassi also for our dinner. Its been quite some time since I made it.

Take care,
Love and regards
Priya

Dear Mrs.Chitra,
Made Atta urad dosai with small onion chutney for dinner. Atta urad dosai was so easy to make and tasted absolutely delicious. Rama used to talk about this dosai all the time. Thanks Rama! I made it finally. Not sure how I missed this tiffin all these days. It was a big hit tonight. Small onion chutney - out of the world. Tasted so good with the dosai.
Thanks Mrs.C!
Regards,
Deepa

Dear Mami,

I have joined your smoothy wagon... today made the following into smoothy

papaya + small carrot (grated) + small banana + 1tbsp honey + 2tbsp skim milk powder + 1tbsp oats liquidised the same in the mixie BUT when it had a slight bitter and a very raw taste, hence added little sugar and had the same. It was quite filling...

Why was the taste like that..anything wrong in the combinations? Can you kindly throw some light mami?

Dear Chithra Ma'm,
Yesterday for evening snack made Biscuit Pakoras.ideal for a rainy evening.I searched for the mincer blade of my mixie jar & tried to use it.The batter was much more uniform.I'm yet to get the rubbing of ghee & soda right so added little water to make dough. It remained crisp even after hours.DH asked why no onions in this.will onions go in it?
Its my turn to try one whistle rasam. It was very easy, jiffy & very flavourful.I came back from an outing, switched the computer on & searched for the recipe & made it.It was done in a jiffy.
Today morning made Rava Puli Upma for bf.Curd chillies in it makes it all the more appealing.DH had it with sambar & myself with curd.I wonder what will be the best accompaniment for it.
Thanks for all the recipes. You entice us to try a lot of new things.
Love,
Damini.

Dear PS, you are becoming a soup specialist !
Thsnks for trying
Unniappam
and
Creamy Almond Soup
For the former, I have added a tip, please note.
Though the name almond soup sounds grand, there is just little almond in it!!
Thanks for all your enthusiasm!
Love,
Chihra.

Dear ApAr, thanks!
The mention of a fruit rasam will definitely draw sneers from the family!
But once they taste it, they will love it!
Rasam-vadakkal-koou, a nice combo!
Love,
Chithra.

Dear Uma, I always toggle between kollu-podi and milagai podi!~
Milaku rasam, jeera rasam, kandathippili rasam are all our cuisine specialities when we feel "out of order"!
Thanks & love,
Cithra.
