dear mami,
now see,you are tempting me like anything,,i had dosa batter and saw your podi dosais,,i am a hard core fan of milagai podi,,even when other accompaniments are there,i prefer podi..so this was like a treat for me...
made the PODI DOSAIS,,my podi is a bright orange colour one,,so edho spread thadavina maadhiri irundhudhu,,,instead of the usual 3,i had 6 dosas today,,,,and the sugar which we use on the plate adds on to give a "GREAT TASTE""....super mami...

latha
its really sad seeing the kids suffer,,do take care of your son,,try to give him lot of liquids and mabe water boiled with little omum, jeera and if you have "'chittharathai"",,it really helped me this time when my ds got a bad cold..take care

PS
thank you so much...i guess you have become a soup expert these days,,,mouth watering display...

Dear aunty,

Made venkaya sambar (with periya venkayam though), and madurai hotel idli sambar. Everything turned out just perfect with venkaya sambar (infact meedham irundha kuzhambu tasted heavenly with idli that evening). But made a blunder in Madurai H-Idli sambar. Instead of taking 1/2 of the measurement, took 1/2 cup of cooked dhal and added everything as per your recipe (my bad should have read between lines). The outcome was a dhaniya-tic sambar with methiyic flavor. Got bit upset over it. But somehow managed to add some more dhal and tamarind and made it to a defined "sambar" (my husband doesn't even know anything about these and had the cooked-up sambar with no comments). Will try the proper proportions again someday.

Since LO is down with cold and flu, she wanted something soothing and sour to eat. So made one whistle lemon rasam again. It truly is a winner of all hearts (even the feverish tongue asks for more). Now browsing through kollu sambars. Can I make Kollu sambar like kollu sprout sambar (soaking it previous night but not sprouting it), since weather here is not favorable these days for sprouting.

-Uma

Dear chithra mami,
Tried vanilla buns with raisins.Very cute looking muffins. Not super soft as i expected.it took more than 20 minutes to get the brown colour, could it be the reason? This is specially for my son.he enjoyed it.will try to rectify the mistake next time. Thanks mami. You make mundane dosai also sophisticated..

kids had soft idlis for dinner and we had soothing kollu rasam (sutta appalam side). i even had one last piece of marathi moggu that i bought in bangalore 4 yrs back:) i added only pepper to the spice paste. kollu is good for body pain and cold related sickness, right? really rasam, saadam is comfort food for thondai problems.

chitramma, sorry to divert off topic.

Latha

my kid had flu as well.. here the doctors treat all flus the same way and pretty much confirmed that he had it. now u dont hav to worry bcoz it does not always get very serious (like the media is hyping).. 90% of the cases get well after fever and cough for a week or so and the reactions mostly show up within the first 48 hrs.. so even if it is that one, u just hav to treat it like regular flu and give looots of fluids (if he is asthmatic then doc will give tamiflu) and rest. it does take a while to go and stuff passes around the house but dont hav to worry beyond that.

take care

Dear amma

Last night, for dinner, I made kaima idly. Husband asked me to tell you specifically that it absolutely superb and a million thanks for making food so interesting. Thank you so much!

I have been intending to make hotel sambar and it requires khasa khasa. Apparently, poppy seeds are not available here. Will the taste differ from the original one if I don't add khasa khasa or is there any alternative? Thank you amma for all your help

Love
H

Take care,

Chithra.
