Dear Mrs Chitra! Thunyil idli ....wow that hot spongy cake tastes superb.....! I remember my dad always asks my mom to make idli that way,but since its a tedious job my amma always gives some or the other excuse for making idli's in them. Regarding Madurai ... i have heard a lot from my father, he absolutely loves madurai for its "Thath kadai" Concept. he always tells me abt how Appam are made at street and are served directly from the kal to the customers. Mam,though i m a tamilian i m unable to read those lines which had typed... :-( since i have been bought up in mumbai, i m yet to learn to read tamil.so if u could translate those lines to me in english . i live in mumbai right now , but will be moving to US by nov end and i m surely going to miss my country and its sweet culture there. Cheers vaidehi
Dear Chita I have been trying almost all ur rasams.I intend make them in Chennai as both my children are fond of rasams .They love variety. Thanks to Chitvish I have a long list of recipes............Thank u so much.Did u see my post to you regarding the Chennai meet?
Dear Vaidehi, I had written Kalluralil araitha idli mavu thuniyil vartha idli ammiyil araitha thogayal ! Ofcourse, I too don't use thuni for idli anymore, to cut down on work ! Sad to know that one more Indian is leaving abroad !:-( Wish you all the best. Love, Chithra.
Dear Kanaka, I feel bad, not making note of your post in the lunch thread. Please excuse me. I have atleast 4 more rasams to be posted ! Hope to meet you in Chennai. Love, Chithra.
Dear Chitvish, Thot of asking u abt the eaya chombu. Whether it really triggers the taste of the rasam if we prepare in that vessel ? I went to Triplicane sometime in the month of june.. n just had a look at the eaya chombu. But i didn't get bcos my chemistry master (school days..) said that we r not suppose to prepare rasam in that.. so i stopped my mom getting eaya chombu... :icon_frown: As i saw rasams thread discussing abt eaya chombu..thot of asking u.. whthr v can prepare the rasam in eaya chombu?? Regards, Kavitha
Dear Kavitha, I definitely feel, eeya chombu rasam is full of flavour - may be, it is a "conditioned thinking". I also trust our ancestors would not have used it if it was unhealthy ! Please read, the following, copy pasted from vmur's post There is a tale around "eeya chombu". It is an alloy made of tin, help me if you know more. Once when a king wanted to defeat another king who had a stronger army, he made rasam in eeya chombu with lead instead of tin and invited them in the pretext of making peace for talks and a lot of soldiers died. So some people even today mistake eeya chombu to be made of lead and think it is dangerous and I go wild if somebody talks bad about my favorite eeya chombu. I am such a big fan of the vessel . I endorse vmur's statement ! Love, Chithra.
Dear ChitVish, I tried your Whistle rasam today and it came out nicely. I will be trying other receipes one by one.

I thank you immensely for your feedback Sir. It is a feather on my cap, undoubtedly ! Regards, Chithra. My tamil font is suddenly giving problem - so choicelessly, I write tamil in english font !
sorry. Athu konjam rhyminga vanthuduchu. I know you are much younger than your age. I do recollect many rejoinder poems to mine. btw, recently my friend nicknamed blue boy has joined IL and after reading the thread 'Thinam oru Kavithai' he has appreciated your rejoinder poems also. Regards, TDU
Dear TDU, You are welcome with your comments in the lighter vain ! I can take a joke on myself & enjoy it !! Though I "vehemently" deny, I am an auntie, rather Cookery Auntie ! Yes, I did read Blueboy's comment - I thank him for his comments. But I suddenly got a doubt that by Chitra, he must have meant Chirajan. She writes much more meaningfully than my prattle ! Regards, Chithra.
