| Dear SB, The first post on Tips - recipe index 2nd page has - how to sprout horesegram. For moong, 8 - 10 hrs soaking is enough. Drain & keep in a casserole. It will sprout in 10-12 hrs. Love, Chithra. |

| Dear Chithra Happy Mother's Day. Your daughter Ruby is a very lucky girl to have a great mom like you and your mother is a blessed mother to have a daughter like you. Now, I have a query. I have prepared Tamarind Paste as per your guidance in "Tips Tips" and kept. For a lemon size raw tamarind that we use for sambar or any dish (squeezing the pulp mode), what would be the equivalent qty of "tips tips" paste to be? Today I made Araichu Vitta Sambar, with the paste, but the taste is slightly more towards sour in comparison with my earlier preparations using the squeezed pulp. Thanks for your time and patience. Warm Regards Shanti 11-5-08

| Dear Shanti, You have overwhelmed me with your words and card.I would prefer being called a friend more, because, sometimes we "bare" to a friend, what we cannot confide even in a mother! Now, coming to tamarind paste! It depends totally on the quality of tamarind & also how much you have thickened it. For sambar for 4, 1 1/2 tsp is enough. A little less is OK - but excess is not tasty. Love, Chithra. |
