Dear Rucha,
Your query is very vague - please write if it is one of many dishes or many sweets. Only then it is easy to give the quantity. If it is going to be the only & main sweet, minimum 6-7 cups are necessary.
Love,
Chithra.

Unhappy Re: Links for Various Categories in Chitvish Recipes

Dear Madam,

Am unable to open any of the recipe threads, please help me out. I have plans to try out your recipes for navarathri, so if you can post me payasams & vadai recipes again, it would be helpful for me.

Thanks in advance

regards
sukar2703

Dear Chithra maami,
Hope you are doing good. This is Vijubala. As Diwali is aproaching,I planned to make Seedai(salt) according to Bala's(my hubby) wish. But i'm bit scared ,wat to do if it starts bursting. So please can you post recipe & tips for making good crunchy seedai without burning my face .So that I can get applause from my in-laws too.Actually I want to share my last year's experience here.Generally I cook better.I had tried cashewnut burfi here at Bangalore & it came out nicely. So I decided to make the same for last year's diwali. But my F-I-L had bought 500g of cashews instead of 250g(which is the amt I mentioned to buy).Without knowing this my M-I-L had soaked the full 500g in milk without asking me.Then when I started grinding it in the mixer I was so puzzled & confused that how the quantity is so high??!! Then I grinded it in the wet grinder. All these time I was so startled & puzzled b'coz my experience here at Bangalore was a different one. Then I was praying my dear Lord Ganesha so many times & made the sugar syrup & poured the cashewnut paste .all the measures I've taken for only 250g of cashew inclusive of the kadai. But I was making the dish with 500g cashew:?.Finally the vessel was not enough to hold the mixture & the mixture started flowing out the kadai.Everything went wrong & I ended up making kaju halwa .So after this only my F-I-L asked my M-I-L where are the remaining Cashewnuts. At that time only she realised wat she had done. But from that time everyone of my family don't believe that I do sweetmeats well.To your information both I & my hubby belong to the same town(Karur) my S-I-L also is married & settled in the same town.Only we are in Bangalore. So think of my terrible position.Actually I did'nt even spoil the dish. That "turned out" halwa also was very taste & not even a bit was left over. But all my relatives mock at me so badly from this incident. So please save me from their mockery & let me save my self esteem & get a good name from all my in-laws. I think I ended up narrating a story.Hope you won't mind. Please maami, help me to make a good seedai. My hubby is pestering me for it.Thanx in advance

Dear Vijubala,
Don't you ever think, I have not committed blunders ! Plenty !!

Please go to
Sweet Seedai (Maida)
Uppu Seedai (Rice)
Uppu Seedai (Maida)

The last two come out perfect; infact maida seedai, I assure will not burst.
But
wash & clean the til deeds free from sand particles, which may 'provoke" bursting.
Do not roll tightly - this is very important. When dropped in oil, the expansion under pressure causes bursting.
Try with 1 cup maida one of these days - you will get "parattu mazai" !
Love,
Chithra
