Dear ChitVish,

Can you please give me the recipe for Amla chutney. I recently bought a packet of frozen whole amlas here and was craving about this chutney. I remember that my grandma used to make this chutney on every dwadashi day and even now my mom makes this. It tastes so very good with hot steaming rice and ghee....

Regards,
Sihi

Dear Sihi,
I am not sure if I am giving the right recipe you are asking for !
The seed is removed & the amla is ground with coconut & green chillies. Mix with curd & little salt. Temper in 1/2 tsp oil with mustard seeds & red chillies.
Love,
Chithra.

Dear Chithra,
I was wondering, my sister makes fried potato sabji to take with her while travelling to Delhi. Have you given anything like that? North Indians have such recipes, I have heard.
Last Sunday, I had soaked dal rice for idli batter and adai batter. I usually grind in the evenings. But that day, I had so much guests that I was not able to grind. I kept it in the fridge and ground it the next day. Once my grinder broke down in the midway of grinding and I had to ask my neighbour to help me with her grinder. As such, I do not like to disturb people in this way.
What is the best solution if such a situation arises?

Default Help with Valentine's dessert!

Dear Mrs Chitra,

Although I haven't tried any of the new delicacies in Ask Chitvish forum, I surely visited quite a few times and made repeats, all of which I have given feedback for before. As usual, they turned out excellent!!!

Before I go on with my request, let me inform you that for my first Valentine's day with hub (the day gained all the importance after marriage, I wonder why!!!) last year, I experimented your Applepie recipe (which incidentally was Prem's fav dessert) turned out sooooo good that I have now become an applepie specialist. I even remember that I had fondly clicked a picture of it and while I was in the process of resizing it, I lost 3/4th of the picture! So, lemme attach the quarter part of it - the delicious looking and tasting applepie!

This year, I want to try one of your other desserts and bowl him over yet again. Which recipe would you recommend the most? :)

My dear Varloo,
Ty this. Make potato roast as per my recipe. In another kadai, roast chopped onions & tomatoes till fairly dry & add on. This is to help it preserve for 2 days. If you want a N I taste, add dhaniya powder & a dash off garam masla.

If the grinder breaks down, only choice is to use the mixi so that the soaked ingredients will not go waste. Idlis may not be very successful, but you can make dosais well.

Love,
Chithra.

Shal, my Kutti Valentine,
Tell me honestly, did the pie get cut off on resizing or you could not wait to " gobble" it up till the photo was taken? I will be happy if it is the latter ! I always believe, the proof of the pudding is in the eating !!
I suggest you can try, one of the jelly moulds or nutty bread pudding. They are all very simple & easy as well.
Love,
Chithra.
Cant help saying, thankyou for keeping in touch in this forum, inspite of a busy schedule !

Oh Shal,
the pie looks so delicious even after one year. Lucky Prem!
Do remember to post the photo of the special dish you make this year too, not quarter but full.
BTW, quarter in TamilNadu means a peg of hot hot drink.

Default Naughty Mrs Chitra and naughtier Varloo!!

Dear Mrs Chitra/Varloo,

It indeed looks much better now than the first time I made it...you can see the imperfections in that pic, but mind you, now I am specialist in making it!!

Varloo, haha...that was a good one! When i wrote quarter, the first thing that came to my mind was the quarter cents coin you get here in america!!

Oru 'quarter' adikalaama madam pllllease? iyyo i meant the pie, not the drink

Question Soya Chunks recipe

Hi Chitra Madam,

Though i have registered in this forum long time back, this is my post to you. Do you have any recipe using soya chunks. I thought of replacing it for mealmaker, but couldnt find any recipe for that also.

Thanks
Nalini
