Default dear varudhini !

I just got a glossary from a friend:
cheppankizangu is colocasia in english, arbi in hindi, chembu in malayalam,
chama dumpa in telugu, samagadde in kannada

avarakkai is broad beans in english, pedda chikkudu in telugu, chakkapparadavre in kannada

chenai is elephant yam in english, kanda dumpa in telugu (other name is arsaghna valukand), suran in hindi, suarna gadde in kannada

kovakai is tindli

Usili is the name of a dish & not vegetable. Paruppusili is a dish made with vegetable & dhal.
Love,
Chithra.

Default request for recipes

Dear Chitra,

Can I request you to post the two pending recipes under "snacks to be stocked for guests", if possible????
the two recipes are - nut cutlet & cabbage paneer potato cutlet.
Both sound interesting.

Also, do you have the recipe for samosa chole OR anything similar. would like to try something different.

I postponed trying strawberry trifle pudding to tomorrow for want of jelly & cake. will give a FB very soon. In the meantime, could you post some more trifles / pudding using diff fruits. Now that all kinds of fruits are available in abundant, it would be nice to use them.

Pls do reply ASAP.

Love & regards,

Default My dear Meena !

I am answering both your posts !
Nut cutlet is ready to be posted with photo. Cabbage-potto-paneer, I plan to ty this Sunday.
I am making a custard-freshfruit-trifle aso on sunday & will post it.
Samosa-chole is ready with photo - I made it last week. That was why I posted the photo of samosas ready to be frozen, in the tips thread.
Next I plan to try cutlet-channa !
For pizza use mozarella. For baked dishes & toasted sandwiches use cheddar - it is now available in cubes, easy to use. It will melt unlike processed cheese.
For topping soups & sandwiches , you can use processed cheese.
Love,
Chithra.

Default My dear Vatsi !

By pot luck, I take it that you mean, others are also bringing some dishes. In that case 4 cups of urad dhal should be sufficient. If nobody else is bringing anything, make it 5 cups.
Have a great successful party & become a "star hostess" !
Love,
Chithra.
