Default Prasadam thread!

Hi Vidya,
Prasadams differ widely & I don't know many ! My scope is very limited & I don't want to "overstretch" ! anything specific you want, I shall post if I know it.
Regards,
Chithra.

Default Hi Chitra!

Dear Chitra,
Yes i am making the eight jewel rice recipie as my main course and bread and baked beans salad recipie both are posted by you. In the dessert i dont want any sweet recipies as i have too much of leftover sweet in my house but i dont want to put them as it is i wont to use them in some way that when my guest see it they should feel it is lovely and homemade. As i mentioned in my earlier reply about putting halwa on biscuits. If you have any such idea about using leftover sweet like pista barfi, kaju katli, peda, etc then let me know that.

I will let you know the feedback once my kitty is done.

Regards,

Default Make a kheer!

Hello C B I,
As Vidya has suggested, first powder all assorted sweets in mixi - need not be fine - now add COLD MILK & liquidise to blend - thickness can be more or less according to your liking - Don't heat it at all - serve chilled. This is done in our houses after Deepavali, when assorted sweets are left.
Best wishes to become STAR of your kitty party.
Regards,
chithra.

Question Prunes

I bought prunes sometime back. Fresh ones. They are so bitter that we just cant eat it direct. If i use it in any smoothie, it takes over the taste and ruins it.
Any suggestions on what I can do to kill the bitterness and what I can use it for?

Suma

Default Depends on each recipe.

Dear Seetha,
This varies with recipes. If you are making Indian sweets etc, you can double all ingredients.
For cakes, pizzas etc the baking powder, yeast etc should not be doubled - but about 1 1/2 times should be ok.
Regards,
Chithra.

Default Nothing can be done.

Dear Sumok,
Some prunes (like some batches of almonds) are bitter. As far as I know, there is nothing you can do about it.
Regards,
Chithra.
