Re: Navarathna p.usili with brussel sprouts and CVVK

    Dear Latha,
Answering in the same order! :)
Tomatoes give the required thickness to vathakuzhambu , eliminating the addition of rice flour. Colour & taste are additional bonus points!

Kutti brussel sprouts is excellent for sambar. Slit them into 4 & stuff like brinjal podi adaicha curry. Both are "tops".

Once the steam comes steadily, put the weight & decrease the flame. Normally 10 mts should be fine for all cooking - more or less, you must judge.Since you write, yours is ceramic stove, may be the heat is high.
    Love,
    Chithra.

Re: Sending (FB) chow chow salad to Mylai.

    Dear Rama,
We, the Mylaivasis, are blessed with walnuts, badham, raisins etc, which is normally out of our reach, in Chennai! :-(
But remember, for salads, the chow chow has to be very tender & very fresh. What we get here is not always tender & has "muLLu' on the skin.
    Love,
    Chithra.

Slicing Onion, thin, in an easy way:It is a delightful way, as well!
    Please go to
    Chips Slicer
It takes more time to peel the onions! Halved onions:

Deep fry & garnish pulaos! Quartered onions:

The entire "operation" took only 5 mts, believe me. Now, I am rushing to make French Onion Soup!
