ONE. Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.
TWO. Marry a man/woman you love to talk to. As you get older, their conversational
skills will be as important as any other.
THREE. Don't believe all you hear,spend all you have or sleep all you want.
FOUR. When you say, "I love you," mean it.
FIVE. When you say, "I'm sorry," look the person in the eye
SIX. Be engaged at least six month before you get married.
SEVEN. Believe in love at first sight.
EIGHT. Never laugh at anyone's dreams. People who don't have dreams don't have much.
NINE. Love deeply and passionately.
You might get hurt but it's the only way to live life completely.
TEN.. In disagreements, fight fairly. No name calling.
ELEVEN. Don't judge people by their relatives.
TWELVE. Talk slowly but think quickly.
THIRTEEN. When someone asks you a question you don't want to answer, smile and ask, "Why do you want to know?"
FOURTEEN. Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk!
FIFTEEN. Say "bless you" when you hear someone sneeze.
SIXTEEN. When you lose, don't lose the lesson
SEVENTEEN. Remember the three R's: Respect for self; Respect for others; and responsibility for all your actions.
EIGHTEEN. Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
NINETEEN. When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.
TWENTY. Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice.
TWENTY-ONE. Spend some time alone.

All excellent points! Now only thing is to put them into practice! Can we do that, that is the question.

I've come across most of these before, since I collect sayings, but each one is worth reading and understanding again and again. Each time, you can gain some more wisdom!



Also, i was just thinking about the 18th point, in the context of between husband and wife (which is like an intimate friendship, I believe) :

EIGHTEEN. Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.

Especially thinking in regard with some couples, they fight over small issues sometimes, which leads to big and drastic consequences. Both parties should try to remember this when its a minor issue they argue about.

Nothing personal against anyone, just my 2 cents..

Thanks for your quick FB hasita! Why don't you post your collection of sayings one by one so that we can get them into our mind and try to put them into pracitce.
There is a saying which says that even stones will become small in size when ants are over them again and again. (Yerumbu oora oora kallum theyum).
If we put into practice anyone of them, it is a great achievement.
On a programme, a girl was introduced as the one who know sThirukkural by heart. When talking over various things, she told the viewers that she abstained from eating non-veg foods, after reading the chapter in the kural which nentions about the importance of not eating non-veg.
After hearing that I was all praise for the girl and also told my children about the interview.
I was thinking why i am not able to follow even one of the advice we get. for eg. Anger is not good for you. Are we able to follow that one? May be we had to practice and practice and practice .....
