| Just two days before I read a news that a doctor couple in Haryana who wanted to get admission in MBBS for their first son went to a manthravathi as they thought that he couldn't get admission by merit. The manthravathi told them to take blood from their second son and transfuse it to the first one. So they cut a blood vessel from the hand of their second son's wrist and did the transfusion. As they could not stop bleeding of the cut vessel, the second son died. How atrocious it looks! It is really pitiable that even educated people falling prey to these kind of superstitions or should I say greediness. We read people agreeing to kill innocent children for getting hidden wealth (Puthaiyal). Perhaps they might be illeterate. But this latest news really made me shudder! Pushpavalli |

| Dear Pushpavalli Ma'am, If the educated can fall prey to the madness of Sorcerers, witches and oracles, then I shudder to think of what happens to the ignorant and illiterates. Sad indeed!

| Dear Pushpavalli Srinivasan, It is horrible to read the story. In India we have many such ignorant beleifs. In Tamil Nadu in some places people bury children alive so that they will get rains. It is sheer madness. This story also refelects what our former President Abdul Kalam was saying that the professional education should not be costly and should be available to one and all. Then only India can really become a super power. Regards, TDU |

| Who is to be blamed... the thantriks or the greedy public.... Veda[/quote] Dear Veda, When highly educated people opt for these kind of ways to achieve something, they are to be blamed for their action. At least illiterate people fall prey to these kind of tantriks and black magic due to ignorance. Pushpavalli |

People believe in soothsayers and astrologers. Whenever they have problems they go to these people and ask for their advice. Even some of our relatives go and seek the advice of astrologer for trivial matters. In this case both highly educated MBBS doctors behaving like this is obnoxious. Love, Pushpavalli |

In this specific case highly educated doctors went to a tantric, I believe it shows their callousness and greed. So education has got no impact on peoples behaviour. But I agree with you that higher education should be available even to the most downtrodden people. Regards, Pushpavalli |
