Pattu saree spoiled:pls advice

Hi, i wear pattu only occasionally. Recently a took out a saree which i did not wear for many years. It is a costly one and there was strain all over it. I dont have a clue how it got there and what strain it is. It is present here and there in the saree. Can anyone suggest what to do. can you
suggest a shop which is good in dealing with all these problems. I read somewhere that they starch pattu sarees to make it look good and new. is it true. Where can i get it done. Or as some say is it advisable to wash saree with soap seeds. (boondi kottai) And what to do to get that starched feel of the saree. Pls advice?

U can try it in home by using soap seeds.soak soap seeds in water for 5 to 6 hrs and use it ur saree or otherwise give it in good laundry.

In ranganathan street there is a shop opposite the lucky appalam. they are specialist in such things. You may try it. kavi

i could not stop replying to this thread though i do not know what is the query or the post. but i assume you are trying to solve a the problem quoted.

i recently read about few shops cleaning pattu sarees. there were a few ads i think in dinamalar also. check them. They charge more than dry cleaners but your saree comes out new(claimed by them).

There is a shop called Sri Ramlok. They have branches inT.Nagar, Alwarpet and Velachery. You can get you silk saree dry washed or you can even change the colour of your saree keeping the border colour intact. My mother converted one and it looked like a brand new one. They do darning too.

there are plenty of shops who do acid touch work, they print ur saree with the colour that u ask and what ever may be the base but once the acid touch is done it turns into white where it touches with added colours, from plain to a beautiful printed saree, in magadi road, behind the city railway stations, chaitra prints, in 5th cross i think ....hope been of help...regards sunkan

let me know the colour of saree. if it is off white or any light colour
you have no option but dye the saree retaining the border colour.always pattu sarees should be washed in shampoo[ any brand ] dries in shade. i know some weavers in kancheepuram who do an excellent job

U wanted the location Sri Ramlok in T.nagar right.It is in Ranganathan Street in the shopping complex where Ambica Appalam is located.The shop is just on the back side of Ambica .
In Alwaroet they have their shop 2-3 buildings before Park sheraton hotel.Hope this info helps u
