Like mentioned in the original post, we are making PM a paid service to make some income for re-investment.

Unfortunatley giving free quota and allowing email exchange will not possible.

Private communication is becoming a paid service. It is not getting difficult. Those who see value in private communication, should not find this nominal a fee a problem.

Yes, both the sender and the recipient should have taken paid access.

Since PM is going to be made a paid service when we reach either gold/platinum/hall fo fame stauts
or if we win any of the competitions we have to pay for PM to PM our address to the corresponding IL or will
there be any other alternate way for this?

Hi Ami, For contest and milestone winners, we will provide an email address to which they can send their address to. Even today, we follow this if the winner is a member who has less than 50 posts.

May we know why you (& Poonam) don't like this idea? Is it because we are making the feature a paid service (which was free all this time)? Or do you think the fee is more?

In either case, if a member do not see value in using Private Message as a paid service, they can always continue to discuss and participate in the forums. They need not opt for this paid option.

To be honest, neither am I happy with the change. BUT, I am even more unhappy not being able to invest and grow the site.

Seemaa hit the nail on its head when she said that it might reduce the charm of the site. That worry is precisely what made me think about this decision for 2 FULL years.

Last 2 years, I have spent enormous amount of time chasing $25 advertisers, many of them won't end up advertising. Even the one end up spending will have done so after 5 email exchanges and so much work from my end that the $25 isn't worth it. All my time is locked up in this, it is hard to think and engage our membership more and bring new features to life.

I have to solve this revenue problem. Else, I won't have the time or the money to invest and grow the site. For sure, this won't solve our entire revenue problem. So, I am open to additional ways to increase revenue. Please share.

Glad to see new improvements , but unfortunately only working people and those who can afford only can pay those amounts.
You should even consider about the normal users and there needs also. The only way of communication between members here is through PM if that was made as paid , you might be earning revenue from that but surely you might loose certain category of members.

I welcome the idea, i know how difficult it is to run and maintain a website which has growing members each day.
When just 0.2% of them use private message service i feel it should not be a problem for those who don't use.
The fee looks reasonable.
