Administrator's Letter on the 4th Anniversary of IndusLadies!

Dear IL’ites,

Today, Indusladies.com is 4 years old. Measured in any way, our 4^th year had been a terrific year! The graph below shows the spectacular growth in unique visitors to our site. Not many internet sites can show this growth profile. Thank you for helping us get here.



Every month, more than 300,000 people visit our site and more than 2.5Million pages get viewed. We have 40,000 members, 125 bloggers, 1500 blog posts, 500 directory entries and 600,000 posts. These are some terrific numbers. We should justifiably be very proud of ourselves. More importantly, we seemed to have assimilated this growth without letting the site’s quality suffer in any way.

If there is one group that I need to thank for maintaining the civility and friendliness of this site, it is our group of Super-Moderators, Forum Moderators, Local Champions and Greeters. Now more than 40 people help manage this site on a daily basis. Each of them spend several hours a week ensuring that forum etiquette is followed in their respective sub-forums. We don’t pay them to do this work and we don’t follow-up. The dedication they show for the job and the passion they have for this community is so special. If you feel like thanking someone for the friendly atmosphere of this site, please thank them.

We made 2 major site upgrades during this period where we introduced several new features. We introduced IL Directory, Reputation System, Enhanced Profiles, Picture Albums, Friends system, Social Bookmarking etc. We also created several sub-forums to cater to the growing needs of our members.

Despite the substantial growth of our site, the challenge of "monetization" remains. The site currently makes less than 5% of an average person's salary in the US. With new server intensive features, our running costs are increasing faster than our increase in revenue. In addition, our site needs investment to grow. As an example, I want to build a comprehensive & genuine work-from-home guide for our members. I want to feature a weekly interview with successful women entrepreneurs. I want to get the word out about our site. To fund these investment needs, I am exploring options. You should hear from me soon on this.

At the end of our 4^th year, we seem to have built a solid foundation. In the years ahead, we need to grow it into a viable and vibrant site. Thank you everyone for helping us get here and look forward to the future!

It was really nice to read about IL the way it is increasing and so many visitors coming in daily. Compared to last year this year it has grown rapidly. And Happy to be a part of this friendly and caring site.

My hearty congrats to each and everybody who contributed their part to make this site a grand success. Congrats to all the moderators, champions and greeters.

My word, I really do believe that at times simple posts on a simple topic helps a lot. I really would like to thank all my IL friends who start lovely threads and IL friends who help continue their threads by their fabulous and instant responses. It really helps the thread starters maintain the same spirit and make IL more successful ever.

I personally thank Indus Ladies for helping me kill my boredom and I regret that I was not a part of it since it started. I really thanq for giving me such a lovely platform to share my thoughts and views. Though not an introvert, I really might not be able to speak out many of my views rather in public.

This is really a sweet opportunity and a chance to be taken as everybody deserves one! I really got addicted to IL since the day 1. Though I browse umpteen number of sites per day, nothing has grabbed my attention like IL did. You helped me make many acquaintances.

The gifts are definitely beautiful and I think they really deserve those beauties for their hard work.
