    Simple Home Remedies -

    ANEMIA:

    Avoid drinking tea (regular, not herbal varieties) and coffee immediately after meals, as the tannin present in these interferes in the absorption of iron from the food. Drink a cup of herbal tea mixed with 1/4-cup blackstrap molasses each day. This provides 80% of the iron needed in one day.

    Foods high in iron: lean beef, lean pork, skinned poultry, shellfish, fish, liver, organ meats, egg yolks, pinto, kidney, lima, navy, chick peas, black-eyed peas, lentils, split peas, green peas, spinach, kale, collards, beet greens, chard, broccoli, raisins, prunes, figs, dates, dried peaches, dried apricots, nuts, peanut butter, whole grain breads.

    Your body absorbs iron from meats easier than fruits and vegetables. To aid in the absorption of iron from fruits and vegetables, eat them with a good source of vitamin C.

    ARTHRITIS:

    A daily serving of fresh fish or fish oil capsules helps to give relief of arthritis and other joint pains. 3-4 walnuts eaten daily, on an empty stomach, will help.

    ASTHMA:

    Mix 1 tsp. honey with 1/2 tsp. cinnamon and take it at night before going to bed. Avoid taking aspirin, as this may invoke an asthma attack.

    BLADDER INFECTION:

    Take a bag of fresh or frozen cranberries and boil them in water (they will fall apart). Cool and drink. Don't add sugar! This remedy is also useful for people with kidney problems.

    BLADDER STONES:

    Boil 2 figs in 1 cup of water. Drink daily for a month.

    BRUISES:

    Slice a raw onion and place over the bruise. Do not apply this to broken skin.

    COLD AND FLU:

    Here is a delicious recipe for a cold and flu soup: SautÚ 6 crushed cloves of garlic in 1 tsp. Vegetable oil until golden. Pour in a quart of beef or chicken stock and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and whisk in 2 egg whites. Beat together 2 egg yolks and 2 Tbsp. distilled white vinegar; pour this mixture into the soup. Season with salt and pepper and top with croutons, if desired.

    CONSTIPATION (IN ADULTS):

    Eat a few black licorice sticks. Take apple pectin. Make sure you're getting enough Folic Acid in your diet. Drinking ginger tea will help start a bowel movement.

    CONSTIPATION (IN SMALL CHILDREN):

    Soak 6-8 raisins in hot water. When cool, crush well and strain. When given routinely even too little infants, it helps to regulate bowel movement.

    COUGHS AND ASTHMA:

    Steep 3-4 cloves of garlic in a cool, dark place for 2 weeks. Use several drops at a time, several times a day for coughs or asthma. Garlic is an exceptional cleanser for the body and has anti-microbial action similar to other antibiotics.

    DEPRESSION:

    3/4 cup of cooked spinach a day is enough to give dramatic relief from depression if you are deficient in B vitamins.

    DIARRHEA:

    Eat boiled sweet potatoes seasoned with salt and pepper before bedtime to cure chronic diarrhea.

    EARACHE:

    Steep 1-2 tsp. chamomile flowers in boiling water for 10-15 minutes. Strain out the water, and apply the hot flowers in a cloth for alleviation of the earache.

    ECZEMA:

    Rub a whole nutmeg against a smooth stone slab with a little water and make a paste. Apply on affected parts.

    ENERGIZER:

    Simmer 1-cup honey and 3-cup water together slowly. Allow 1 cup of the water to evaporate. Strain off the top surface, and put the remaining liquid into a stoneware crock or dark bottle. Put a towel over it so it can breathe, yet be free of dirt. Place in a cool place. You can add cinnamon, clove, or the juice of 2 lemons, if you like.

    FATIGUE:

    Take a glass of grapefruit and lemon juice in equal parts to dispel fatigue and general tiredness after a day's work.

    HANG-OVER:

    Eat honey on crackers. The fructose in the honey will help to flush out the alcohol in your system.

    HAY F E V E R:

    Steep 1 tsp. fenugreek seed in 1-cup water, covered, for 10 minutes. Drink 1 cup a day to help hay f e v e r symptoms.

    HEADACHE:

    Eat 10-12 almonds, the equivalent of two aspirins, for a migraine headache. Almonds are far less likely to upset the stomach.

    HICCUPS:

    Drink 1/2 glass of water, slowly. Keep a tsp. of sugar in your mouth and suck slowly. Suck 2-3 small pieces of fresh ginger. This helps in hiccups, which keep occurring again and again. OR Take a large mouthful of water without swallowing, plug both ears, and slowly begin to swallow the water. Unplug your ears and you're hiccups free!

    Why has using the computer mouse become a problem?

    The mouse is a common piece of computer equipment which helps people use computers more quickly and easily. Since the introduction of Windows technology in the 1990s, which made mouse-intensive software popular, the mouse has become standard office equipment.

    Using a mouse as the only input device (as with a computer game) is not hazardous as long as the computer workstation is set up properly and frequent breaks are observed. However, because most people using a mouse in a workplace setting must use the computer keyboard at the same time, using a mouse regularly works the same small muscles over and over again, and can lead to discomfort, pain, and even Workplace Musculoskeletal Disorders (WMSDs).
    What makes using a computer mouse hazardous?

    There are two reasons why using a mouse regularly can be hazardous.

    First, using a mouse requires a person to make small, exact movements with their hand, fingers, and thumb. By positioning, travelling, scrolling, and clicking the mouse again and again, the same small muscles can become tired and overworked. This can cause:

    * Pain (ache, soreness) on the top of the hand (Figure 1)
    * Pain (ache, soreness) around the wrist (Figure 1)
    * Pain (ache, soreness) along the forearm and elbow (Figure 1)
    * Formulation of painful nodules, and in the later stages, ganglion cysts, around the joints and along the tendons
    * Numbness and tingling in the thumb and index finger that may develop into Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS)



    The second reason using a computer mouse can be hazardous is that the placement of the mouse can make it awkward to reach. Many computer workstations have limited space; since the keyboard is already directly in front of the person using the computer, most times the mouse is placed around the upper right hand corner of the keyboard and toward the back of the desk (Figure 2).


    When the mouse is in this position (Figure 2), it is out of 'easy reach': it is beyond the safe distance range for comfortable hand movements. In order to use the mouse, the person has to reach their arm outwards and forwards (Figure 3) and hold it there unsupported for as long as they are using the mouse.



    Moving like this, and holding your arm like this, again and again throughout the workday can cause soreness and fatique by putting an extra load on the muscles in the upper back (Trapezius muscle) and shoulder (Deltoid muscle). Repeated use of the mouse, therefore, can cause aches and pains in the shoulder and neck area. Lower back pain, while not directly caused by the mouse, can also be a problem if the computer user has poor posture and leans forward when they sit.
    What can be done to reduce the risk of injury from using a computer mouse?

    Designing a computer workstation which lets a person use a keyboard and a mouse (or other input devices like trackballs or graphics tablets) at the same time can be very difficult.

    The complete elimination of aches, pains, and WMSD may not be possible, but choosing the right mouse, positioning it properly, and being aware of how you are holding your body and using your muscles can all help.

    Does your hair fall a lot? Don't worry, you're not alone. Millions of people from all around the world suffer from dry, brittle and weak hair. Some of the possible reasons for falling hair are:

    Tension
    Too much work
    Illness
    Poor diet
    Over-exposure to the sun
    Perming
    Amateur bleaching
    Too frequent and inexpert use of tints, rinses or other colourants


    Here is what you can do to prevent hair fall

    Shampoo regularly. Remember, a CLEAN scalp is a HEALTHY SCALP.
    Brahmi amla oil also promotes hair growth.
    A high protein diet with plenty of fruits, green vegetables and dairy products is a must.
    Drink 10-12 glass of water everyday.
    Use a very mild shampoo and condition your hair at least twice a week. When you do, make sure you rinse out the conditioner thoroughly, otherwise residue build-up will cause your hair to look limp and dull.
    Know your vitamins! IRON is important for healthy hair and brittle, limp hair indicates an iron deficiency. Spinach has a good iron content, so gulp it down!
    ZINC helps prevent hair loss and greying. Eat adequate zinc rich foods. Overweight people tend to have zinc deficiency, which is inversely related to the body mass index. Thus if you are overweight and if your hair falls too much, you may want to increase your intake of zinc containing foods. Recipes containing stone ground, wholegrain flour are rich in zinc.
    A shortfall in VITAMIN B may cause dandruff, falling hair, loss of colour and could encourage grey hair. So B group Vitamins are essential for gloss, colour and thickness.
    VITAMIN C ensures the health of capillaries supplying blood to hair follicles. Make sure your diet includes plenty of fresh fruits and veggies.
    VITAMIN E encourages hair growth. Switch from refined flours to wholemeal and wheatgerm, eggs, vegetable oil.
    COPPER stops hair from falling. Studies show that the copper content in the blood serum of people with falling hair is less than normal. Different types of alopecia (falling hair) are seen to have a deficiency of this important trace element. Include small quantities of nuts, especially cashews and peanuts, seeds, whole milk and beans in your diet as these contain minute but important amounts of copper.


    Homemade remedies for preventing hair fall:
    Apply almond oil on scalp and massage.
    Grind fenugreek seeds in water and apply on your scalp. Wash off after 40 minutes. Do this every morning for a month íV if it suits you! Remember, different treatments suit different types of hair.
    Massage warm castor oil + almond oil into your scalp gently. Wrap a hot towel around your scalp so it gets absorbed into the hair. Do this twice a week for healthy, shiny hair.
    Add 2-3 drops of honey to a glass of water and use this as the last rinse after shampooing.


    Quick Hair Care Conditioner
    Mix 1 egg, 2 tbs castor oil, 1 tsp vinegar and 1 tsp glycerine. Beat until frothy and massage lightly into your scalp. Wrap your head in a hot towel, steam, then wash off. This conditioner makes hair thicker, shiny, soft and manageable.

    Here are some natural methods to color your hair:

    Ingredients needed

    * Henna (natural)- 1 cup
    * Dried Gooseberry powder- 1 tbsp
    * Coconut oil or olive oil - 2 tsp
    * Tea decoction

    Boil 1 heaped tsp of tea powder in 200 ml of water until it reduces to half the quantity. Strain the decoction.

    Mix henna, gooseberry powder, oil and tea decoction together and leave it overnight in an iron vessel.

    Apply it to the scalp in the morning .Remain for 1 hour and wash it off.

    For dark brown shade, mix half a teaspoon cloves powder (or powder 3-4 cloves) in the morning to the mixture.

    For silky hair, beat an egg and add to the henna paste in the morning.

    2.Soak a cup of red henna powder (natural) in half a cup of hot water in an iron vessel and leave it overnight.

    The next morning add 1 tbsp of coffee powder (pure) to it for a deeper color.

    Apply to the scalp in the morning, remain for 1 hour and wash it off.

    For silky hair, beat an egg and add to the henna paste in the morning.

    Henna Mahogany produces a golden brown shade.

    3.Do not go for chemical hair dyes as they might cause allergies. Mix sikkakai with juice of 1 beetroot and wash your hair with this mixture .Do this regularly once in a week.

    4.For healthy hair

    Mix 50 grams of dried amla (gooseberry) in 500 ml gingerly oil or coconut oil and boil it. Cool it, filter it and use that oil for healthy hair.

    Mix 50 grams of dried amla in 500 ml coconut oil. Keep it in a glass bottle or glass jar with a tight lid. Keep the glass jar containing the mixture in the sun for 15 days .The oil turns black in color. Strain the oil and use it .This oil not only gives a black color to your hair, but also stops hair fall.

    tip 1 :biggrin: apply oil and leave it on for 2 hrs b4 takin shower..
    tip 2....Apply yogurt<curd> leave it on for 2 hrs and take shower...
    tip 3 ...Nvr apply shampoo directly to ur hair....Jus mix it wid water...and then apply it to ur hair.....
    Yeah...nvr use those hair dryers....let ur hair dry naturally..on its own...with out any help from these....machines...
