Thirruppavai is written praising Vishnu/Perumal by Andal and is a collection of 30 paasurams or stanzas in Tamil. It holds an important place in Tamil literature which is part of Divya Prabandha, work of twelve Alvars.

Singing of Thiruppavai holds special significance during the month of Margazhi as each day of the month gets its name from the thirty pasurams. It also sung to bring peace and prosperity.
