Behind the Door:

Episode 1:

The Sun shined magnificantly on the snow claded mountains of the great Himachal Pradesh and the birds started cooing with the gentle fresh morning breeze and the sound of the flowing streams across the mountains will make any person go mad over the Himalayas! The Pride of our nation!!

The gentle breeze and the Sun rays kissed the lovely face of Meghna. She slowly covered her face with the thick blanket and turned towards the other direction. And yet again went back to the dreamy world where she had an unknown person riding on the horse and giving her a hand to grab, for a lifetime. She smiled in her dream. She always had that dream covering her entire eyes whenever she slept peacefully. She could visualize snow laded road and a white horse with shiny pure white hair on its head and making it more beautiful. And a tall and handsome man dressed in a white Polo shirt and a dark blue denim with the perfect pair of boots sitting majestically on the horse. She always saw only till his neck. She never got the chance to see his face!

As she was still dreaming, her alarm rang for the nth time after snooze and the clock showed 6AM! She slowly woke up from her sleep , stretched her hands and woke up. She wore her teddy peaking cloth flip and made her bed. Her bed was neat and clean. She went to refresh herself and made herself a cup of hot tea. She came out to her balcony sit-out and stood facing the giant mountains. The snow claded peaks glistened in the Sun and resembled her handsome dream man in the white horse!

She sipped her hot tea and thought how lucky she was to visualize such a beauty on a daily basis! She then made a quick call to her parents who were staying in Kolkata. She then got ready for her interview in a big hospital. The hospital was the biggest in the state next to the giant peaks. She was a Doctor degree holder and she was doing an internship in the hospital. She was always noted for her consistent work and care she had for her patients. She was noted by her dean from the first day of her joining as an intern. He spoke to her to complete her 6 months course and then he promised her to take as an assistant surgeon to the renowned and the most handsome surgeon in the hospital. She accepted his proposal and today was the day she was looking forward for many months now.

She took bath, applied a gentle fragrance on her skin and wore a light pink patiala suit with white bottom and duppatta. She wore round dangling silver earrings and a thick layer of kajal that made her eyes look pretier. She left her hair loose and it was dancing to the tunes of the gentle breeze. She then took her doctor coat on her left hand and the steths in the right. She gulped her breakfast and in no time she took her handbag and locked the door and stood outside her apartment.

She walked to the street end to take an auto to the most popular hospital - The Mehtha Specialist Home.

The auto took her throught the small lanes of the state. It was 8AM and the school kids were all dressed up in their sweaters and woollen caps and were waiting for their school jeeps. The women were are ducked up in sweaters and shawls. Many women were busy doing house chores and some were walking like her towards the schools or colleges or offices - their destination. And Meghna was heading towards her destination - The Mehtha's..

Let the door open..........

 

Episode 2:

In a few minutes Meghna was standing in front of a huge building with 6 big pillars to support the entrance arch which was beautifully decorated in French design. In the centre of the entrance way before the large set of stairs that took to the inside of the hospital to the reception, was an enormous fountain. The fountain had two whale like structures oozing water out of its mouth to form a fountain. And in the evenings lights decorated the flowing water which attracted even the passers by!

She thought to herself - How many times i have stepped into this hospital but still i admire the entrance so much! Really Mr.Mehtha must have spent a lot decorating it this magnificantly!

Her thoughts were interrupted by a family crying loudly as they pushed the stretcher fastly towards the emergency ward and the ward boys were in hurry pushing the stretcher and the hanging saline bottle made the scene so difficult for anyone to see.

Meghna returned back to normal state and erased her thought and wondered except the doctors, the admin people and the Dean himself no one might notice this beautiful architecture. As people who suffer only come into this building and it might be difficult for them to admire such a beauty when their loved ones are suffering.

Meghna climbed up the stairs to reach the reception and went directly to the last counter where Miss. Rosy used to sit. Miss. Rosy greeted her with a smile and she smiled back. Meghna had made good friends with Rosy aunty in these 6 months. Miss. Rosy was a middle aged woman, in her early 40s. She wore loose blouses with little below knee length skirts and this was her trade mark dress. She wore different colours of blouses and block coloured skirts that made her look a little younger than her actual age. But the wrinkles and fine lines often revealed her age. Rosy aunty was polite natured and spoke very gently and had a great English accent. She was known for her gentle nature of talking to all the patients and people generally prefered going to the last counter in the reception to pay the charges and this made her stand out. The Mehtha's Speciality Home was not ready to leave her even after she expressed her choice of quiting the job as a recepionist due to age related health issues.

Rosy aunty asked Meghna - So your most aawaited day has come , isnt it dear?

Meghna - Yes aunty. Hope you are doing great!

Yes dear with the blessings of Christ im all fine. Thank you.
I am afraid you have to wait for few hours dear, as Mr. Mehtha is engaged on an emergency. The fire burns case, you know. A lady had tried suicide by lighting herself but was unsuccessfull and was brought here few minutes back by her in laws because of whom she had committed suicide! Sigh!! Jesus bless the lady and punish the people responsible.

Oh God aunty! I really wish her a speady recovery and no wonder our Dean is the best so we can ensure her recovery in few months time.

No problem aunty I will wait in the cafetaria. If you can join me for a cuppa!

Dear, sure will come in few minutes. But as I always tell you limit your intake of caffine dear. Dont drink before I join you, so that you will end up with only one cup!

Aunty, yeah sure. As per your orders madam!
But your hospital's coffee cups are so small! Can't I get two?

Dear, from now on this is not yours... Its going to be Our hospital and I know very well you would have had a big cup at home. So a small cup should be fine now.

Okay aunty! I will see you in the cafeteria. Bye!
