Children are made readers on the laps of their parents. – Emilie Buchwald

With mother’s day around the corner and few weeks of summer (holidays) stretching ahead, what could be a better way to spend time with your little ones than reading. All you wonderful mommies in IL, pick a book, read it with your child and update the progress here. You can read as many books as you like but do update it here so other parents too get a glimpse of what your child is reading.

The mom-child duo who completes the most books by the end of June will win the honorary title of “Sizzling Readers”.

PS. Don’t forget to share any anecdotes or antics your child gets up to while reading. We all love to hear about those cute moments.

@chillbreeze, thanks for tagging me. This is a great idea. We have such activities at the local library during summer. One more month of school and then summer starts for us :)

Will keep updating the list here.

    Thanks for the tag @chillbreeze.

The quote is so appropriate! I now have to pry books out of my older ones hands to get her to look at what she is eating. There was a time when reading was a much hated and loathed activity. My DH tells me how all my hard work with her has paid off. Now, I get book suggestions from her.

We are both co-reading "Mind Gym" by Gary Mach these days. I'm so busy that I hardly read a page or two so it's slow going.

My son and I did these books today that he loves -

    1) Dora's picnic (beginning reader 1)
    2) The big bear house
    3) Blues clues at the beach(beginning reader)
    4) watch your step Mr. Rabbit (beginning reader)
