Answer to Puzzle : #5181 Cricket Fighting! (wiki link) #Clues (order might be shuffled; check bold words! ) Image 1 + 2: Cricket fighting has been a popular blood sport in China for centuries, with more than 1,000 years of cultural history. This ancient tradition has been passed on to generations that there are many Chinese who still enjoy this tradition every year in August through October. Image 3: Driven by their natural instincts, male crickets engage in a duel to win over the female mates (their fury seems no lesser than that of Spartan warriors, with their powerful clipping jaws! ) Image 7: Said to have originated during the Tang dynasty, the imperial concubines (mistresses I suppose?! ) used to keep the crickets in small golden cages to hear them singing in the night. Historians say the concubines saw a reflection of their own sadness and loneliness in the cricket’s chirp. (Clue - crickets as pets) Image 4 + 5 + 6: Under the Song dynasty, cricket fighting flourished as a popular sport, So popular that then minister, Jia Shi-Dao, accused of being irresponsible, eventually resigned due to his obsession with cricket fighting. (Clues 5, 6 - Prince + Pauper + Broken Empire - as he ruined the empire & his wealth) (Additional Image Clue - Jia Shi Dao is the centre figure in that Netflix poster.) One good thing he seemed to have done right was writing the book of crickets, “Cu Zhi Jin”, which is still followed as the rulebook for breeding & fighting crickets. Image 8: The cricket fighting season begins in September when the crickets are about a month old. (Clue - fall season) Image 9: Cricket fighting has always been a gambler's sport, though gambling is illegal in China, this hasn't stopped the bloodsport enthusiasts from involving in betting. In underground casinos, Bets frequently top $1,000 and sometimes exceed $10,000. Because the stakes are so high, many of the fights are held in private homes or discreet corners of parks. (Clue - Betting on Black Insects! ) Okayyy... That's all folks!
