The top and bottom panels in this puzzle refer to two interesting stories - fact, not fiction! The middle panel points to a loose connection between the two. Setting: China. Task: Identify the two stories. Level: Easy, with Google-Fu. If this takes you more than 10 minutes, you might want to reassess your strategy! One of the events is seminal - you may have heard about it in your high school world-history classes. The other is extremely interesting (hmmmm, well, to me anyway!) but obscure. It is very unlikely that you are familiar with it, unless you have a deep interest in China. I would be rather impressed if you know of it! As usual, I have laid it on pretty thick with the pictorial clues. A subset of the clues is sufficient for a solution. As always, prior knowledge is helpful (especially with references uncommon in India), but not mandatory. I am introducing a new convention: The pictures enclosed within the red box in the top panel are to be considered jointly – together, they constitute a single clue. Or if you are cleverer still, you can ignore that red box with no loss, since the other clues are more than sufficient! The reward for your efforts are the stories themselves. More clues as requested.
