    Answer to Puzzle #5109

    Peking Man Site at Zhoukoudian.

    Zhoukoudian / Choukoutien, is a cave system in Beijing, where first specimens of Homo erectus (dubbed Peking Man) was discovered in 1929. Due to its cultural & prehistoric significance, it was formally inscribed on the "World Heritage List" on December 1987

    Hint : Going back in time (to millions of years ago, in early human history)

    Descent of man --> by Charles Darwin --> Indirect keyword here is 'Evolution' (to lead back to homo erectus or the Peking man)

    Image 6:
    Hint : Dragon+Bones (+ hills in the background) --> 'Dragon Bone Hills', One of the localities within the excavation site where many sculls were unearthed.

    Number Clue : 86. Dec 2 2015 marked the 86th anniversary of Peking Man since his discovery (The first fossil skull was discovered on Dec 2, 1929).

    That was a good one @kaniths. Excavation + evolution + china led me to Peking man. Very interesting to learn about the Zhoukoudian caves and my response was Chicken bone hill where explorations was conducted by Andersson in 1918.

    Why not?! It was a really good puzzle. By the time I got to it so many clues had been posted that I didn't see the point in adding a clue, but it was fun to solve.
