    Solution to the puzzle(#3851) http://www.indusladies.com/forums/e...ts-fire-up-those-neurons-386.html#post3653740

    Leonhard Euler-->A Swiss Mathematician...

    Pic 1-->He was born to Paul Euler, a Pastor of the reformed church.

    Pic 2 -->Paul Euler was a friend of the Bernoulli family, Johann Bernoulli(Pic), was then regarded as Europe's foremost mathematician.

    Pic 3 & 5-->The Euler–Mascheroni constant (also called Euler's constant) is a mathematical constant recurring in analysis and number theory, usually denoted by the lowercase Greek letter gamma ,The constant first appeared in a 1734 paper by the Swiss mathematician Leonhard Euler, titled De Progression harmonics observations. Euler used the notations C and O for the constant. In 1790, Italian mathematician Lorenzo Mascheroni used the notations A and a for the constant. The notation appears nowhere in the writings of either Euler or Mascheroni, and was chosen at a later time because of the constant's connection to the gamma function. Since then named Euler-Mascheroni constant.

    Pic 4 & 6-->He was also known for his works in astronomy and music theory.

    Pic 7--> Physics is the natural science that involves the study of matter and energy. To indicate that he was also known for his works as a physicist.

    Surekha,

    No matter how many times he tripped and fell in his academic pursuit, he latched on to eventually research and enhance the quality of life for many.

    Soon we have to enroll and stand in line to publish our puzzles. This is a good trend and the thread is rocking. By the way I bought a new tablet to just check puzzles round the clock. I am happy that three puzzles are waiting in the wings. :thumbsup

    A general request - I've noticed that over the last two puzzles the clues have become more and more direct. Please don't give out facts associated with the answers. Please give veiled hints to the answer, instead of obvious, searchable clues. Once you give facts, the challenge is gone. I haven't been able to solve the last 2 puzzles because the answers had been openly given out.
