Attempted = 3 Solved = 3 This is real fun. I don't know why I missed it this long. I am working on the broken clock. Viswa
got it Viswa sir. I actually started thinking about the puzzle only after u posted that u solved it. You had left two clues but I picked only one initially. Just waiting for the answer now. Thank you.
Answer for #2094 The images point to certain well known personalities. Name them. The answer for this puzzle is the music composer duo of Shiv-Hari. Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma and Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia are scions of Hindustani classical music. Pandit Sharma is a Santoor maestro and Pandit Chaurasia is a world-renowned flute virtuoso. Image 1. Valley -->Snowy mountains in the background--most likely Kashmir valley. The Kashmir part was not needed to solve the puzzle --> the image referred to the album "Call of the Valley" which was a pioneering effort at classical fusion and is probably the most well known Indian classical album in the Western hemisphere. I often let it play in the background when I work. Image 2. Tulip fields --> Even if you didn't instantly place this one, working with the Sridevi image, a movie connection should have been easier to make. Iconic imagery from a very well known song from the movie Silsila-- Dekha ek khwab toh yeh silsile huye... Image 3. Laddoo with Lord Venkatesh under it --> Variations of God's names --> Hari, Vishnu, Narayan, + Prasadam (Hindi: Prasad). Prasad alone would have been sufficient, even if you didn't make the Hari connection. This clue was a play on Hari Prasad. Image 4. Santoor soap --> Direct reference to the Santoor, Pandit Sharma's instrument. Once you get past the soap image, this one should have been straightforward. Image 5: Sridevi, yellow-blue lehenga, and the desert --> instantly brings up the song from the movie Lamhe --> Morni bagan ma bole aadhi raat ma... Shiv-Hari composed the soundtracks for both Lamhe and Silsila among many other movies. They received the Filmfare award for best composition for Silsila. If you plug in any of these keywords in Google, santoor, valley, Lamhe, Silsila, prasad, you would have found at least one part of the answer. Deciphering the other half was just a Wikipedia look up away.
Initially I got side tracked with Ladoo and Sridevi - English/Vinglish Both Chandini, Silsila directed by Yash and music director for both were Shiv Hari. So got confused there. Thanks for all the clues by all our participants too.
I thought the picture of Lord Venkateshwara with the thirupati prasadam was a brilliant play on the name! For me, the main clue was the valley and the Santoor cemented it of course. Did NOT know they had composed the Silsila/lamhe/Chandni soundtracks but Google ( being v careful not to attribute male or female GP's here in fear of incurring someone's wrath!) kindly informed me as to the same! Btw, why did someone refer to Lord Venkateshwara as ' the bamboozling kind', didnt get that particular reference? Good one!@Gauri03
That was pretty clever of Deeps! It refers to the bamboo flute played by both, the God and the maestro. I loved it! :biggrin2:
Let's work out the clock puzzle before we move on. I will be honest here and bow out because I Googled it and found the answer. If you want to take a serious stab at the puzzle, don't Google. For future reference, all our puzzles must be original. No ready made puzzles please!
To my untrained and undevout eye, the ladoo initially looked like jaggery. LOL. As we share our errant mental detours.. it is like the six (or was it seven?) blind men describing the elephant. http://www.nature.com/ki/journal/v62/n5/images/4493262f1b.gif I too did not know! True. I am thinking I'll go back and take a shot at some old ones. And, ahem... working on composing one too. Wonder if composing is harder or easier than solving! Northindyun/Southindyun god willing, might have one by thanksgiving : )
