I am stumped too, but will take a stab at the characters and make a fool of myself. Dasaradha's son(Rama)'s friend(Vali)'s enemy(Sugreeva)'s wife = Tara?? :hide: Vibhishana is Ram's friend too, but not aware that he has enemies. I don't know of any friends of Lakshmana/Bharata/Shatrughna. Five hooded serpent is Lakshmana? Since he is an avatar of Shesha? Tripod....:hide: Kubera?
Dear Deepslikes, you are almost nearing the answer.Tamil knowing people who understand the structure of words can solve the puzzle easily with your clues.I hope that Tamil members read the puzzle and solve. Thanks for a very good attempt. It is very nice. Jayasala 42
I feel that none of the Tamil knowing members has made an attempt.I am sorry;I don't have any pictorial clue in this regard.I shall wait for two days and release the answer on 29th October. Jayasala 42
I got up to Vaali's wife Tara as well but feel next step I need to make is a crossover or a pun on the word tara that means something else entirely or changes the context entirely. My lack of tamil could be hindering me here. For example something like tarabalam which pivots the issue into astrology??? What is the tamil word for leg? Or pain? or bite? which will go with tara to change the meaning? I was thinking tripod --> trishul which means Shiva so either Shiva or a bhakt of Shiva --> Ravana who was struck by lust for Sita ( lust being the 5 hooded serpent) But why press firmly??? Serpent bite could also mean awakening the Kundalini shakti???? yes one more clue needed please...
Dear Smt.Jayasala: Man capable of riding ten chariots = Dasaradhan Son of Dasaradhan - Raman Raman's friend = Sukrivan Sukrivan's enemy = Vali Vali's wife = Tharai In Tamil word ThArai, if we remove the leg, it sounds as floor (Tharai). So far, that is all I can derive with respect to the treatment. But I am completely lost in finding the first part about the disease. Does it mean someone who is walking with a walking stick got a Nerunji Mul (it has five faces) in the feet? Is that the reason, the doctor is prescribing to rub the feet on the floor? Viswa
Well well well.. look who else is here in addition to Jayasala! Viswa!!!! Is it ok to take help from Ramayana expert friends who are not in IL? ;-) Until then, could you tell us if it is a person, place, or thing? I am thinking: Where there is a will, there is a way.
Dear Viswa, You got it correct. All others have neared Thara.since they are not tamilians they are unable to connect Thaarai with tharai. AA sound is called leg in Tamil. If we remove the long sound, Thaarai will become tharai-. Tharai in Tamil is floor in English. A physically challenged person is walking with crutches-that is dancing Tripod stand. A thorn which has five sharp edges called Nerinji Mul in Tamil,Gokhru in Hindi is comparable to serpent hood with five edges.Tribulus terrestris is the botanical name of the herbal plant popularly known as puncture vine .There is absolutely no treatment for this thorn bite except to rub the affected part on Tharai, the floor. The uneasiness and irritation will disappear on rubbing the affected part on the floor. Thank you Viswa for spending your precious time on this puzzle. I thank all the others who have enthusiastically participated and almost nearing the solution. I have never visited this thread earlier. It is so much interesting to see the enthusiasm which caught up with this 73 year old grandma too. Jayasala 42
@jayasala42 Thank you for the solution. Some of us would never have worked it out due to the unfortunate language barrier. Nevertheless, interesting puzzle. I got a mini crash course in the Ramayana trying to work this out! @Viswamitra Very happy to see you here. Hope you stick around!
@Aria and I spent Sunday afternoon working this out on WhatsApp. We got as far as Tara but of course couldn't get past that.
