Good puzzle deepslikes, picked up some interesting information on this drive. What I can't link is how @justanothergirl JAG's picture fits into this puzzle? Perhaps I have to dig deep.
You know, now you girls have me second and third guessing myself! One thing I have realized - as a result of this thread - about myself is that my weak point is recognizing the faces. I pretty much know what is being talked about or have a fair idea of which direction to proceed but the person's picture or face is always my undoing. I simply dont know/ dont recognize the faces of most famous people/achievers /inventors, it seems. This happened in the last 2 puzzles and I worked extra hard for @deepslikes one just because I couldnt attach a name to the face quickly enough. Solved the puzzle right away but couldnt believe that was the answer and kept trying to build on that because of the unknown face. Though I have to admit, this is not deeps fault, but my own insecurity. She clearly mentioned in the start itself, that it is either or. Oh well! Btw, one thing I like to do in this thread is that I 'like' the puzzle only after I have solved/masticated/ruminated on it to my satisfaction. Just a personal quirk but the puzzle poser can take it as a signal that I am ready to move on!
This is for the newbies. One of the things that helps me to solve these puzzles is that I start out assuming that 1 or couple of the clues given are foundation clues pointing directly at the answer and the remaining clues are supporting clues that support that inference. This is usually the case unless the poser clearly mentions otherwise in the puzzle itself. Which one is the foundation clue and which one's are supporting comes with practice. So take the clues singly or in combinations of 2's or 3's while puzzling out the answer also. See what pops in your mind and build on that. Hope this helps!
For future puzzle-makers - By a vote of 2 (the rest of you forfeit your votes for non-participation) we have chosen 'Desi buffet' as our puzzle theme for November. All puzzles must have a clear and direct link to India. No vague 5th generation, thrice-removed connections please! Wanna feel patriotic? Here's a link to one of my favorite ghazals, Hum toh hain pardes mein...des mein nikla hoga chaand...
Welcome to our thread! Very excited to see you here. We've had puzzles in Italian, so there is no reason why we can't have them in other languages too. As long the clues are sufficient to arrive at an answer, all puzzles are welcome. We can always use 'Google translator' to work out the meanings of the clues.
