After you have exhausted all Hindu baby boy and girl names denoting Mother Earth , take a look at:

I was talking to one of my mates yesterday about my online stint and outcrop of 4-5 people who were involved in puzzle solving.

"Puzzle? like sudoku and brain teasers?
    "No, a different kind"
    "Erm, customized, something we invented"
"Picture layout, clues in the form of companion poem, attempts posted in cryptic form"
    "Sounds interesting"
    "What happened"
"What do you mean what happened"
"Assumed you discontinued or someone in the group was conscripted to join Mars Mission"
    "Hmm"

If anyone asks me the favorite post I contributed to IL, I'd select — http://www.indusladies.com/forums/e...ts-fire-up-those-neurons-183.html#post3539934
(Note: used to be on page#184, jumped to page#183, er, wonder which posts were deleted).

Aria, why do you have to say this so many times? We heard you back then. We heard you atleast 4 times. No I don't want to spell melodramatic or write a singsong post. A totally sterile post eviscerated of all emotional outbursts is what I want to type to convey the message as simple thank you. Such a resourceful and unique thread deserves a dignified entombment. I'm sure if Gauri has chosen a different platform to float this idea — college campus, corporate fun forums, FB community perhaps more hands will sound to appreciate her work here. She took a simple idea of quizzing and hoisting with her ingenuity as a brain rattle. She was brilliant, dazzling, cute, funny in her interactions and stood out from the rest in her undiminished spirit to challenge her own creativity at every step with her progressive blend of layout and content. I used to always picturize her cranking a typewriter in a warzone publishing a featured column on "Ladies, drop your ladles and landmines instead let's fire up the neurons" in the backdrop of artillery and smoke few miles from her desk. I might have failed her at times. I might have been stubborn at times.

If sequels are bad, then remakes are hazardous. Can there be another thread of this temperament, making, stirring of brains? I doubt. Will Theseus return to move the rock and claim rightful stead? I don't know. What I know is all good things never end but freeze in time as shards of memories and when one of that shard cuts through present, you take to your keyboard and start pecking. I feel silly writing such sappy posts but people who know me know that I go to untold lengths to ensure that where credit is due, deliver it with compounding interest not simple interest. Who knows may be another Gauri somewhere will take a cue and line-up another Aria in a many-world universe. A lost soul who wanders into mossy ruins of this neurite colony should not find unexplained roanoke but a stele summarizing its glorious past.

P.S: You're one of the most amazing people I've met online/offline. Good luck, Gauri.

For the sake of completeness, the embarrassingly late solution to #1858

Though not one my favorites, this puzzle had me scratching my head. Took a couple of minutes of staring at the images to remember what it was all about. It would've been the perfect irony if I'd had to reverse image search my own puzzle. Thankfully the rusty old neurons retrieved a faint memory of it having been mother's day when I shoddily put these images together.

The common link between the images is MOTHER EARTH or GAIA/TERRA/PRITHVI/BHUMI as she is also known. The images are of heros and heroines from various mythologies -- Hindu, Greek and Norse -- all offspring (children or grandchildren) of Earth, the primal mother.

And for the sake of curiosity, am I not glad that I peeked to see a bold-fonted and bumped "Let's Fire Up Those Neurons" dated September 3rd today.

    WHAT?!
    OH DEAR!
SHE IS BACK ..OR SHE IS HERE OR SHE JUST WHISPERED AND LEFT ..what ever that peek-a-boo or flick-a-finger you've performed it has given me immense joy of winking back at that neon green virtual LED aglow that used to greet me at 7PM every day for good 8 months even before I switched on my living room lights.

I'm not a big fan of Calvin and Hobbes but now the black and white print, city: xxxx state: xxxx, gold laurel, plane guidance: "A little bit of slope makes up for a lot of Y-intercept." every piddling and trifling detail I never bothered about that frame looks so beautiful today....awee!

Peter Capaldi is back for Season 9 of Dr Who! Guess, time for regeneration at my end.

    WINTER IS COMING!

Apart from flogging duvets from the attic, sterilizing hot water bottles, removing lint on overcoats, matching the snoods with spats, winter is also a good time to resume few activities.

When Ansuya left, that was quite a stab, I staggered for few days wondering if something could have been done to prevent her sabbatical (I wish to call it a "sabbatical" and not an "exit" hopeful that one day she may return to her stead and hoist "English Matters"). The monomaniacal rack in my brain for few days when this thread was abandoned was very similar inspecting if something could be reclaimed. I don't exactly remember the circumstances around that period but like hind sight is HD vision I wish I could have to slowed if not stymied the process of us jumping off the board. I really can't recollect much but the glimpses of British airways ad in a recent documentary playing Flower Duet, any programme on optogenetics, deep brain stimulation, basal ganglia and the mention of the word "neurons" was enough for me to fondly recollect the shakespearean classes, socratic dialogues and surreptitious participation here. I cannot promise that I'll behave myself well and deserve condign telling-off. I'll be as cranky, as troublesome, as far-fetched from the patent clues yet with very few left in this site with whom I can hold a wakeful discussion and sensible argument in this remote islet called "Education and Growth" , think about it ...Winter is coming and for good ..
