Few more puzzles framed while brushing my teeth, need to head out now but back in evening and shall post if everyone is languishing on a sunday. Mind, these books are nice-to-know bounds, rich history, source of inspiration and adaptations over the decades. Most important, even if you have never heard of them few taps of the keywords inferred from the pictorial clues should suffice to crack. I'll try to dig something from modern literature later. Ta .. (Okay a modern writer popped up, someone you must read, must enjoy may be tad continental but you must know - best bit - easy to represent him. I was inducted into his writing by one of my colleagues)
Okay, still have some time, posting a puzzle. Puzzle: Name the book illustrated in the below images Category: Classical fiction/stories Level: Don't know Why: Good to know that this book exists. Several inspirations and adaptations drawn from this book. Image#4 : Hope everyone has read Dan Brown's "Inferno" More later..
No, I was making a bilingual joke, admittedly obscure. 'Star' in German is 'Stern' -> 'Sterne' Laurence + Star -> Laurence Sterne.
If I may elongate that obscurity. That beer stein, someone may read into it and yelp "Laurence Sterne" (Or Gauri will box my ears)
Are the two "likes" for the puzzle to be treated as too obscure or silly? Mind, it is combinatorial play on books and puzzles. The objective is not "what" but "how" to pry so even if you never heard the book just with pictorial clues you should be able to hover in the dome of darkness.
For those who thought spring has arrived, no "winter is coming"! If you are as lazy and slipshod as me, then instead of the 600+ pages each book in GMMR epic fantasy series, go for the graphic novel series for the beautiful illustrations (love the visual work).
As well she should! A traditional beer stein would have a handle and the older ones a lid. The pic could perhaps fall under a generic 'bierglas' rubric?
Just playing on German "stein" (another foreign word that can be associated) Sometimes I forget whom I am talking to ..:biggrin2: My knowledge of the continental languages is limited to cookery channels.
