OMG, that's the worst in terms of effort. Let's stick to Hyderabadi and Awadhi! I'll take pics of the others when I make it and post the recipe somewhere. I'm just super lazy to go through that process and then find something veggie for myself. Much rather stick to the quintessential curries and have one veggie dish for me!
What are the odds! Last night I peeped into my usual C&H fans hangout and someone had posted the very strip. Talk about Baader-Meinhof. They are fairly high res. Good enough for a wallpaper, though the dimensions are off for a wide-screen monitor. But that can't be fixed without altering the length-width ratio, which would ruin the artwork. Looks good on my 27" widescreen with whitespace along the sides. If you have one of those massive widescreens, you could try Photoshop to upscale them some more.
Answer to #1433 Image 3: Cloud, bunch of messaging apps -> Meghaduta (=Cloud messenger) I meant this to be the giveaway. Identifies the person as Kalidasa. Image 1: Ring, baby surrounded by birds -> AbhijnanaSakuntalam (=Of Sakuntala who is recognized by a token) In the story, the token is Dushyanta's ring. As a baby, Sakuntala was found by Kanva surrounted by Shakunta birds, hence her name. Image 2: ♂ symbol, peacock feather, 'Creation of Adam' painting -> KumaraSambhava (=Kumara/Kartikeya's birth/creation) ♂ originally represents Mars, the Roman war god (or Ares, the Greek version) Wiki link: Mars symbol - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The Hindu god of war is Kartikeya whose vahana is a peacock. This was a bit convoluted. But not so much if you've heard of the translation 'Birth of War God' by Ralph T.H. Griffith ( http://www.amazon.com/Birth-War-God...=sr_1_6?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1424191141&sr=1-6 )
Four buildings and a biryani? Wah, wah, this is almost as good as Calvin's Dad. Aadaab sahiba! And so many varieties of biryani? Back in the day, when I still lived in India, my choices were biryani, veg biryani or special biryani - well, ish-pay-shaal, for the sticklers. So, is food-**** a thing in India now? Gently drizzled with Dalda, dusted with freshly ground Malabar pepper and presented on a bed of delicate lotus leaves ... ? :rotfl
"Four Buildings and a Biryani" sounds like the plot of a great gastro comedy! :biggrin2: And what is this about dalda? Tauba tauba! Shuddh desi ghee ke bina kaisi biryani? Miyaan aapke dalde ke din kabke guzar gaye. The Indian palate has become rather discerning these days. Get with the times Janab!
oooh so that was the second one, I didn't know the meaning of the kumarasambhava was birth of karthikeya, not even after you pointed out the reference in soka's post. My DH helped with meghdoot! Otherwise I was wondering what cloud computing had to do with indian history! Tube light finally lights up!!!!Good puzzle deeps. Sorry, I was busy defending my gharelu Durga with ten hands status you know where. I completely forgot about your puzzle.
You guys are killing me with biryani talk. I am 2 hours away from decent Hyd biryani and have no known source of Awadhi or any other special biryani. And too lazy to cook. But I watched about 20 videos of biryani recipes on youtube yesterday night.
Seeing how thoughts of biryani have completely consumed some of our neuritis**, I thought I'd find some delicious pics to allow us a little vicarious indulgence. From the oldest Lucknowi Biryani to the most renowned Hyderabadi Biryani: 10 delicious varieties of Biryani from different parts of India - IBNLive Enjoy! ** That should be neurites. It was a typo, but I thought I'd leave it in there. Neuritis -- the condition of being irrationally obsessed with a puzzle to the point where it colors every other aspect of your life.
