The five images -- cornflakes, chocolate chip cookies, microwave, teflon (nonstick pan) and vulcanized rubber (Charles Goodyear) -- had one common factor. They were all accidental discoveries or serendipitous discoveries. The key to the answer was 'serendipity', a word with a very interesting history. It was coined by the writer and politician Horace Walpole in 1754. He based the word on the title of a Persian fairy tale, The Three Princes of Serendip by Amir Khusrau, the heroes of which ‘were always making discoveries, by accidents and sagacity, of things they were not in quest of ’. Serendip was an ancient name for Sri Lanka. The etymology of Serendip is traced as -- Sanskrit: Suvarnadvipa --> Persian: Sarandib --> French/English: Serendip The answer to the puzzle was Sri Lanka. Kyunki meri jaan, the Goodyear-sugar connection is tenuous at best, and the 'fairy tale' and 'happenstance' key words don't really fit with the Ishvaku answer. Those phrases were intended to give the answer away even without the images.
I was referring only to the phrases not the images, once you arrive at the connection "serendipity" , "accidental discoveries" , the answer is easy, (err, 5 min after you get past Cusak and Beckinsale fairy-tale smooch) But I wanted to explore if the pattern-making, confirmation biased mind can discern/tweak any more journeys. :biggrin2: (I tried to ram in 3 more, guss guss, toos, but free-flowing sugar with smooth pertinence) 24h a puzzle, you don't expect the electrified mind to stop there ... You know the two versions of the puzzle #Boring, adult version - "some country , somewhere" #gola-slurping pigtail kindergarten "wha-a-a-at ya-a-a-r such difkooolt puzzle" "Okai, let me open that encyclopedal" "It says - sugar , sugar-cane what is that next word da mole, mole and ass!" Good one!

Great article! Should be made sticky on every subforum on IL. The amount of woo that gets pedaled here in the name of science is mind-boggling.
We have to find a cure for this new epidemic of 'OP's remorse' that's plaguing our thread. Speak your mind people. Why all this second guessing? PS: I read what'ya wrote. You should've left it up there.
A to G: "Ha-a-zz to be about khana yaar! All photu are about khana only" "Aye G, you make sto-o-o-pid puzzle yaar! You show khane ka photu and then say tell me country? Not fair yaar!" For those wondering what this new nonsense is -- This is A and G pretending they are gola-slurping pigtailed elementary school girls having a conversation.
I did not read your comment! (default "like" going by the trend that all deleted comments bear great insights, forthright punch and explosive speech)
