Now see why I try to (a) keep things simple and (b) try to include a 'pay-off' at the end? :)
If no one solves it, it's no fun for me! The puzzle needs to be just out of reach, so that a move in the right direction leads to a satisfying 'Aha'!

Here's an example hop, I am giving away what I hope is the weakest of the four clues - so you can still play:

Die Ehe der Maria Braun = The Marriage of Maria Braun -> hop to 'Wife'.
So, one of the words in the unknown title is 'wife'.

As for the strongest clue, you already came a bit close!

Also keep in mind that I am operating under a lot of constraints here, albeit self-imposed.

I wanted to choose a film for the puzzle.
One that you probably had not heard of, that's art, worth seeing and unusual. (the 'pay off').
    A film with a multi-word title, so that it's a good puzzle.
A title with words leading to simple clues.
I wanted the clues to be other films.
Films that I like, that are good examples of cinema, that I think you might enjoy as well.
I chose films in different languages from different countries.

"Babette's Feast" is a simple, satisfying, feel-good film.
'Le Femme Infidele' by the auteur Claude Chabrol is tres French New Wave (new at the time!).
'The Italian Job' (1969) is a cool heist movie.
Rainer Werner Fassbinder's first major international hit "The Marriage of Maria Braun" is very powerful with excellent acting from Hanna Schygulla.

So it's OK if you don't get it right off! :cheers

Thanks! I spent a while searching for variations of affair+paramour+mafia+robbery+wedding+love+betrayal+banquet+dinner+Paris...drove me nuts!

The 'wife' clue helped put the other clues into perspective. :) It was easy after that.

    Hmm, again confusing!

Because the second clue is "Unfaithful Wife" and the word is not directly used so I dropped the cooked curve in the IMDB list. I thought the straight substitution was applicable for "Foreign" and "English" title.

The other name I came up with because I had to drop the "wife" was " The thief who came for dinner".

Regarding "The thief who came for dinner"

    Feast = Dinner
    Italian Job = Thief
Who ==> The other movies had similar plot of suspicion in men , who?

Again unchecked because it did not have any great awards in its coffer. :-(

No, Soka, no matter how simple and minimalist you try to keep , it is the intellection of your "words" and "phrases" that whirrs my mind. I fail to grasp, start to interpret, leading to confusion.

Like the "substitution" , and there were 2-3 other words , "remove away" , I had multiple interpretations of connotational and denotational usages of these "phrases". Did not want to scare you away with my barrage of questions.

    Pardon me , :confused2:

I'm still not clear on "remove away" , "remove one". Four clues, 4 words that perfectly fit in the unknown movie.

(I'm sure when you explain it will hit me like thunder, oh! uh!)
