I was never into BnB and the like. Never had the patience for them. I don't think there was a single cable watching tween or teen girl in India in the early 90's who didn't have a crush on Pierce Brosnan. :)

I lay the blame for my sci-fi/fantasy obsession squarely on the X-files. :) Still watch old seasons on Netflix whenever I can.

Me toooo! Careworn for Mulderkins running behind Sammy like Heathcliff for Kathy in "Wuthering Heights". I know she is here! I can feel here! Sammy I'm coming!

I think there were couple of other preternatural programs "Extraordinary", "Dark Skies", "Ripley's believe it or not" that transfixed me in front of the television set back then.

In the recent years, the only sci-fi program I watched (rather followed) is "Fringe", was addictive in the beginning, I lost track after season 3 when alternate universes alternated.

I hope you don't mind our tête-à-tête on telly Fin_de_siècle!

Early 90s , when satellite television made inroads to the wide-eyed audience in India, is etched so vividly in my memory. I was one of those kids who used to wake up at 4:00 AM in the first week of cable to watch the cartoons.

I still remember hypnotized by "Here comes the grump", "Count Dracula", "Pinky Brain", "Dexter's Laboratory" ; rheumy-eyed chubby kid back then sipping milk for one hour against the backdrop of my mom hollering "A stone idol would lap up the libatory milk faster".

    Great fun back then!

There wasn't a lot of good sci-fi on TV back then. X-files was pioneering in a sense and it set the bar very high. There's been a big sci-fi boom on TV in the last decade, but most of it is dumbed down to appeal to the average viewer making it unbearable to us sci-fi fans. Of course, you can't talk about TV sci-fi without mentioning Firefly. Fourteen glorious episodes that I will watch and rewatch until I die. :) I loved every minute of that show, not to speak of my perpetual crush on Nathan Fillion. To me he'll always be the Cap'n, and I will remain a loyal browncoat.

The rest were all disappointments, some bigger than others. Every Sunday for six years, I invested an hour into the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica. And what did I get in return? A deus ex machina! As amazing as the series was, the ending was such a bitter disappointment. You don't lead a sci-fi fan on for six years and then tell them, "God did it"! It was a total cluster****! Excuse my language but just thinking of that last episode makes me raging mad! :rant

Most other series have been too inane to grab my attention. So for now, reruns of X-files and Firefly are it for me. :)

Quite the opposite! I am loving it. :)

Mine too! I still remember that feeling of going back home from school and having something exciting on TV. MASH at 5:00pm and Neighbors at 5:30pm, or was it the other way around. And MTV! I still remember my mom tch-tch'ing and shaking her head every time she caught me watching. It was supposedly the gateway to bad grades and total depravity, which in India are one and the same. :)

Probably busy activating his sleeper assets to plan black-ops against ISIS leadership. I've heard the Internet is quite spotty in Syria and Iraq.
