He is by no means obscure, but yet, I am surprised by how few people in my overeducated circle know him. I am posting this anyway, because if you haven't heard of him, I want to be the one to introduce him to you! To compensate, I have made the clues relatively straightforward. As always, there's more than one way to get at the answer and not every clue needs to be solved!

You may post the answer in the form of a cryptic clue if you like. Just read the last few pages and you'll get the general idea.
