    Play on "blanc" instead of "blank", it is silver coin of France, to help you identity the King and also blanc means "white" to assist you with the puzzle (white, frozen, ice).


    French King Louis is the clue, inject him into the puzzle --> ( First Antecedent who bears the root of his name) , now identify the people, migrants, culture , 12,000 BC?

    The discovery of cosmic microwave background radiation for which Penzias and Wilson got the Nobel in physics. This was my answer initially, but I interpreted the clues very differently. I changed my answer based on your subsequent interactions with deepslikes. thinkingsmiley

    contact + Rings originating tring trings -> signals from outerspace

    Waves + static -> cosmic radiation

    the hoe and poo were throwing me off.

    Two winners of the nobel -> Arrived at discovery of CMBR

    But I changed the answer based on the 'maybe-maybe not' (maybe alien signal, maybe natural) and decided it must be the LGM-1 signal episode. Dubbed the little green men signal, was eventually discovered to be emanating from a pulsar, leading to the discovery of neutron stars and a Nobel in physics for Hewish and Ryle. The alien contact theme of the movie poster seemed to suggest this possibility. Of course the poo bit didn't fit.

    Ah! that is excellent deduction! My tête-a-tête with Deeps was alluding to confusion over , have we heard the faint whisper in the skies correctly. :)


    "Poo" was quite a slapbang hint there , [FONT=Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif]Penzias and Wilson at one point felt may be the pigeon poop is causing the telescope to malfunction and cleaned the antennas (laughing about it in later interviews)[/FONT]

    Did I get it? The only other alternative are the Beringian People who lived on Beringia until it began to disappear into the ocean. But no dice on the name of the king for this one.

    PS: The Marie Antoinette picture was just cruel! Like Laks, I took 'who are we' to mean, who are we in the picture. :)
