Aria - Thanks to Moby Dick, I knew the pictures were "whale" related. It would have been easier to crack had you chosen the pic next to the highway. That's what got published in the newspapers. I think I was in India when I read about the Chilean fossil discovery as they paved a way for a new highway. But I still have no idea about it's significance, other than the obvious! A great find for archeologists. What other significance does this place have? Of course the name of the place eludes me and I'm not using Dr. Google today.
Actually, there's more than one fossil whale graveyard (different whale species) and you are right, there is one in Chile. However, this particular one with that hill in the background is Wadi Al-Hitan in Egypt - hence the clue about 'wandering for 40 years' (the biblical Exodus from Egypt). The rest of the story I will leave to Aria! So, Laks, where's the puzzle you promised? waitingsmiley
Valley of the whales! Now that this thread has more participants than the three I originally envisioned, perhaps we can take Soka's suggestion to add a clue once we've figured out the answer. After one or two additional clues, just go ahead and post the answer. No point being coy about it. The stage is yours Laks...
This is super easy. I don't think anyone needs any clue. I'm sure the first response will be the answer. Who is this? Cutie too! He is very well known in his country and in India too. So much so that I wanted to PM the thread starter and say shhhhhh..... You know him, since you know too much about me, including my World Cup affiliation. Ok, let's see who else knows him, other than Gauri of course, who already knows this person.
Those who haven't guessed it yet need only take a look at the world cup thread to discover Laks' fascination with a certain footballing nation. Yes, there's a movie, and a book, and a beret, and millions of T-shirts emblazoned with that captivating visage.
Clue: As square as his head was round, Beheaded, but - Of natural causes brought down, Ne’er on that vessel Was this Lord General found, And Yet - Well joined is he to her, By their nom de guerre!
Well, this one should be easy, with clues galore. You can start from either image and walk toward the other. Chosen for its many interesting details, not order of difficulty - Enjoy!
