Jeeraka Podi: - Ideal to eat “post deepavali”

    Jeera - !/3 cup

    Pepper - 1 heaped tsp

    Dry Ginger - 3”

    Omum (ajwain) - 1 tsp

    Salt

Fry jeera, pepper & omum individually on a dry kadai till aroma comes.

Crush dry ginger into small pieces & dry roast.

    Lightly roast rock salt also.

Cool all ingredients & powder together.

Mix with hot rice & ghee.

Alternatively, you can add this powder to rice & ghee, add little lime juice &
    finely chopped coriander leaves

    Mix well & eat.

Use less of this powder first, add little more, if necessary.

I once made this for a lunch, where all other items were slightly heavy like channa, bathura etc. This just “ vanished “ !

    Second recipe:

    Jeera - 1 ½ tbsp

    Urad dhal - 1 tsp

    Pepper - 1 tsp

    Red chillies - 2, 3

    Hing - 1 tsp

    Curry leaves - 1 tbsp

    Salt

    Oil - 1 tsp

Heat oil, fry jeera lightly & remove.

Next in the same oil, fry pepper & remove.

Lastly fry red chillies, urad dhal, hing, curry leaves & finally add salt & switch
    off.

    Powder all ingredients together.

Serve with hot rice & ghee.

    Dry ginger - 2”

    Khus khus - 3 tsp

Malai or top of milk - 3 tsp

    Jaggery - 500gms

    Ghee - 100gms

    Clean & grate ginger.

    Grind & extract the juice.

    Dear Sowmini,
Let me give you 2 simple remedies:
Soak 1 tsp venthayam in 1/2 cup of water overnight. Swallow it with water, first thing in the morning.
Chop small onions & lightly saute in 1 tsp oil. First mix this with hot rice & eat before proceeding with the rest of the items.
    Love,
    Chithra.

    Dear Chithra
My husband suffers from very bad eczema on his feet. He's tried all kinds of cream but it doesn't seem to work. Is there any home remedy I can try? My daughter who is 16 has acne on her back. Any suggestions how to get rid of this too?
    Thank you.
    Love
    Jas
