Dear upma lovers , Tomatoes season is on now here . why not give a try to this upma apart from preparing dosa & thokku & other usual items with tamatars ??? you will need , 5 riped tomatoes for 1 cup of idly rice soaked 8 red chillies 1/4 cup grated coconut little tamarind chopped 1 big onion seasonong items & salt. method is so simple . grind all the ingre together coarsely except onion . dont add water. tomato juice itself is enough. in a heavy bottom pan , do the normal tadka with gingelly oil , onion & pour the ground batter & cover it with the lid for 15 mts. dont stir in between. after 15 mts , the batter will be half done . remove it & scratch remove the crispy crust also. then again , in the same pan put that half baked batter & cook for another 15 to 20 mts open , stirring between till the upma is done. yummy tamatar upma is ready to serve now. serve with that kesari karandi [mould ]. goes well with any raitha & pickle. will add the picture when i do this again.
