Finally the chill is gone and it’s time to stash away the winter wardrobe and bring in all things bright and sunny! Summer means shorter clothes, more skin and less makeup. Unfortunately the last part can pose a bit of a problem – runny mascara, smudged kajal and blotchy foundation don’t exactly spell Glamorous!
Well, ladies, like everything else, this problem too has a simple enough solution. With the right products and the correct art of application you can bid goodbye to your makeup woes this summer.
Good Skin, Great Makeup
The first and foremost aspect of looking good is making sure your skin is in top condition for summer. You don’t want oily, blemished skin spoiling a perfectly good makeup job. This means a strict regimen of cleansing, toning, exfoliating and moisturizing.
The better your skin, the more natural you will look with makeup on. Scrubbing is important in summers since the dust and pollution tend to clog our pores and create a dark layer on the skin.
Use a good scrub twice a day, preferably walnut or apricot to keep clogged pores at bay.
We all know we need to use sunscreen lotion, we even buy one. But somehow we never get around to actually using it. That’s because we think we’ll need it only when we head to a beach vacation. We couldn’t be more wrong!
Sunscreen is to be used every time you step out, be it summer, winter, spring or autumn. Just because you can’t see the sun, doesn’t mean the UV rays aren’t there. True, you’ll need a cream with higher SPF content in summers, so look for one that fights both UVA and UVB rays.
Remember, the more you expose yourself to the sun, the older your skin will get. Besides, it’s good prevention against skin cancer.
We love eye makeup and how the liners and kajals make our eyes look big and beautiful and bring out the Indian-ness in them. But if you want that pop dream to last, opt for waterproof eye makeup.
