Steps in Preparation

  • Position the stock tank pond on a pier in your garden in such a way that it can get at least 6 hours of sun light in a day.
  • Fill it with sufficient water and let it stand until the water attains the air temperature.
  • Do line the tank with pebbles to provide an enticing exhibit of your garden pond.
  • Prepare the plastic pots by filling them with gravel and place the chosen aquatic plants in them.
  • Build up the platforms using the bricks or cement blocks to position prepared pots and the marginal plants.
  • Place the pots with plants in such a way that their rims are just below the water level.
  • Also include few colorful fishes like the gold fish for a more alluring appearance of your pond.

Additional Ingredients

Adding more to the potted pond simply depends on the artistic flair of the individual. Few such additions to your pond may include:

  • A Bird Bath: If your tank size is too big try making it hospitable for the birds that alight in your garden by providing a provision for the birdbath with a stone on the edge of the pond.
  • Filtered Bubbler Pump: Adding a filtered bubbler pump to your pond can make it more ideal, as it provides a tinnitus stream effect. It can help in balancing the temperature of the water and also support fishes.

Maintenance

Maintenance of the mini pond is quite simple and doesn’t require much effort. It includes trimming of over grown plants and maintaining clear water levels. Use of fertilizers and fish feed can ensure better plant and fish growth.
