    Hello,
The artisans community is the most exploited of all.The desperation to make few money on daily basis has resulted in work of excellence sold for a song to the middle men.It is with equal apathy the conditions of Aari workrs in Mumbai was reported in leading Newspaper. How children from UP/Bihar were brought to Mumbai to work in Zari units.Boys of 8years are made to work under 40watt bulb light.8-10 children in a dingy room that has a loft to sleep. They were forced to work 12 hours a day. What more worst condition when the boys had to cook in the toilet! This was a Actual story carried by Times Of India[2/3years back].today when i cross the shops of the leading designers i wonder is it the work of those small boys?

Not all designers are selfish. There are some who give credit to the artisans in centre stage.Check the Links.

    Hi Poza,

Again I am reiterating that I am Jaymg and not to be confused with other users and I thought that the patch was Lohana work and not Ahir. But I stand corrected. The reason for posting that article was that I am aware of the subtle differences of embroidery styles of Kutch because I taught Handicrafts as a part of Tourism theory.
