    dear rachna,

take a readymade chudidar that u might had purchased sometime or one that fits u well...keep it on the folded cloth of the same length that is two length front and back....now mark it and cut it....now the most important part is to cut the neck and sleeve..u need to have basic knowledge but still can mark and cut the neck be careful to seperate the front from the back before cutting the front after u have finished with the back...now keep the same sized material below the cut neck space and make a small sized front and back backing for the necks....this will be 2" all over ur front and back neck size on the outer side from the neck...now stitch the neck side on the right side of the fabric and turn over to the wrong side and hem the corners..attaach the sleeves and fold the sides before finishing the lower bottom with a double fold . now for the bottom also u need to cut the material by stretching the centre down in the bottom section to know the length reguired for ur seat area and then cut it.here u may have to attach cloth if u r big made otherwise it would be enough..take a separate piece for ur hip as it would be smaller than the seat area and cut it fold and make for the string area and connect the fabric of legs after finishing from the back give more gathering to the front side always attach pin to get the best effect so that u dont redo it again................u can contact if u still have doubts....regards..sundarikannan.

Sewing/Tailoring/Stitching : Salwar - Kameez, Chudidhar, Punjabi Dress Instructions

    hi,

    Measurement for Salwar bottom

Length - x (Take measurement from where you tie the knot till your desired length)

Seat - y (Around the seating area, hope you understand)

Leg Bottom round - approx 20"

    Waist Band Length - 8" to 10"

0 to 1 - Length (-) waist band length+4" or 6" or 2" (can keep canvas for the bottom if you need)

    0 to 2 - 1/3 seat (-) waist band length + 2"

    2 to 3 - 1/3 seat + 2"

    0 to 4 - 1/3 seat + 2"

    1 to 5 - 1/2 leg bottom round + 1"

    5 to 6 - 4"-3.5" or 6"-5.5" or 2"-1 .5" (According to 0 to 1 measurement)

    3 to 7 - 3"

    Waist Band

    0 to 1 - Waist Band length + 2"

    1 to 2 - Seat + 4"

    0 to 3 - Seat + 4"

See the attachment for how to draw, cut and stitch.

Now that I have given you the measurements and the foldings before you cut. For stitching you need a separate session which you can do only on somebody's supervision. If you can do it by yourself, it is fine.

    regards,

    Vanaja

re: Sewing/Tailoring/Stitching : Design / Drafting/ Cutting Salwar, Chudidhar, Blouse

    Dear SV,
it is nice of you to post the draft of the salwar. I was wishing to post it but something or the other comes in my way of drafting it.
I would like to give some tips in stitiching.
    1. Stitch the bottom foot section first with necessary thick material.
2.Now stitch gather on the front side only of both the leg pieces to the measurement of the band.
3.Then join the slanting curve of the leg pieces together - 5 - 7 of Vanaja's draft.
4.Now stitch both the leg pieces together- 4 - 7 of the draft. It is also called the crotch.
Then attach the band. This way, the stitch will not get torn on the underside when we sit.
5.Then stitch the top side so that you can put a thread to tie.
I shall try to draft and scan it.
